Zephaniah 1:5–6

5 those who bow down on the roofs

to worship the starry host,

those who bow down and swear by the Lord

and who also swear by Molek,

6 those who turn back from following the Lord

and neither seek the Lord nor inquire of him.”

5 those who bow down on the roofs

to the host of the heavens,

those who bow down and swear to the Lord

and yet swear by Milcom,

6 those who have turned back from following the Lord,

who do not seek the Lord or inquire of him.”

5 And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops;

And them that worship and that swear by the Lord,

And that swear by Malcham;

6 And them that are turned back from the Lord;

And those that have not sought the Lord, nor inquired for him.

5 For they go up to their roofs

and bow down to the sun, moon, and stars.

They claim to follow the Lord,

but then they worship Molech, too.

6 And I will destroy those who used to worship me

but now no longer do.

They no longer ask for the Lord’s guidance

or seek my blessings.”

5 I will destroy those who worship

the stars from the roofs,

and those who worship and make promises

by both the Lord and the god Molech,

6 and those who turned away from the Lord,

and those who quit following the Lord and praying to him for direction.

5 and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship, that swear to Jehovah and swear by Malcam; 6 and them that are turned back from following Jehovah; and those that have not sought Jehovah, nor inquired after him.

5 and them that bow down to the host of the heavens upon the housetops; and them that bow down to Jehovah, that swear by him, and swear by Malcham; 6 and them that turn back from after Jehovah, and that do not seek Jehovah, nor inquire for him.

5 I will remove those who worship all the stars in the sky on their rooftops 

and those who worship by swearing loyalty to the Lord 

while also swearing loyalty to the god Milcom.

6 I will remove those who have turned away from following the Lord 

and those who no longer seek the Lord or ask him for help.” 

5 those who bow in worship on the rooftops

to the heavenly host;

those who bow and pledge loyalty to the Lord

but also pledge loyalty to Milcom;

6 and those who turn back from following the Lord,

who do not seek the Lord or inquire of Him.

5 those who bow down on the roofs

to the host of the heavens,

those who bow down and swear to the Lord

but also swear by Milcom,

6 those who have turned back from following the Lord,

who have not sought the Lord or inquired of him.

5 and those who bow down on the rooftops

to the host of heaven,

and those who bow down, swearing to Yahweh

but also swearing by Milcom,

6 and those who turned back from following Yahweh,

and who did not seek Yahweh,

and did not inquire of him.”

5 I will wipe out those who bow down on their roofs

to worship all of the stars.

I will destroy those who take oaths

not only in my name but also in the name of Molech.

6 I will cut off those who stop following me.

They no longer look to me or ask me for advice.

5 “And those who bow down on the housetops to the host of heaven,

And those who bow down and swear to the Lord and yet swear by Milcom,

6 And those who have turned back from following the Lord,

And those who have not sought the Lord or inquired of Him.”
