The Future of Bible Study Is Here.
Matthew 4:12–5:12
12 lNow when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
15 “The mland of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles:
16 nThe people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned.”
17 oFrom that time Jesus began to preach and to say, p“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven 3is at hand.”
Jesus Calls His First Disciples
18 qAnd Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon rcalled Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and sI will make you fishers of men.” 20 tThey immediately left their nets and followed Him.
21 uGoing on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, vteaching in their synagogues, preaching wthe gospel of the kingdom, xand healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. 24 Then 4His fame went throughout all Syria; and they ybrought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. 25 zGreat multitudes followed Him—from Galilee, and from 5Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
5 And seeing the multitudes, aHe went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and btaught them, saying:
3 “Blessed care the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 dBlessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 eBlessed are the meek,
For fthey shall inherit the 1earth.
6 Blessed are those who ghunger and thirst for righteousness,
hFor they shall be filled.
iFor they shall obtain mercy.
8 jBlessed are the pure in heart,
For kthey shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 lBlessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 m“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of nevil against you falsely for My sake. 12 oRejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for pso they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
