Hebrews 4:3–4
3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:
b“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: c“And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;
Hebrews 4:3–4 — The New International Version (NIV)
3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
“So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”
And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world. 4 For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “On the seventh day God rested from all his works.”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — English Standard Version (ESV)
3 For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said,
“As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter my rest,’ ”
although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Hebrews 4:3–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)
3 For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said,
“In my anger I took an oath:
‘They will never enter my place of rest,’ ”
even though this rest has been ready since he made the world. 4 We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — New Century Version (NCV)
3 We who have believed are able to enter and have God’s rest. As God has said,
“I was angry and made a promise,
‘They will never enter my rest.’ ”
But God’s work was finished from the time he made the world. 4 In the Scriptures he talked about the seventh day of the week: “And on the seventh day God rested from all his works.”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)
3 For we who have believed do enter into that rest; even as he hath said,
As I sware in my wrath,
They shall not enter into my rest:
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he hath said somewhere of the seventh day on this wise, And God rested on the seventh day from all his works;
Hebrews 4:3–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
3 For we enter into the rest who have believed; as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest; although the works had been completed from the foundation of the world. 4 For he has said somewhere of the seventh day thus, And God rested on the seventh day from all his works:
Hebrews 4:3–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
3 We who believe are entering that place of rest. As God said, “So I angrily took a solemn oath that they would never enter my place of rest.” God said this even though he had finished his work when he created the world. 4 Somewhere in Scripture God has said this about the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
3 (for we who have believed enter the rest), in keeping with what He has said:
So I swore in My anger,
they will not enter My rest.
And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world, 4 for somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this way:
And on the seventh day
God rested from all His works.
Hebrews 4:3–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,
“As in my anger I swore,
‘They shall not enter my rest,’ ”
though his works were finished at the foundation of the world. 4 For in one place it speaks about the seventh day as follows, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
3 For we who have believed enter into rest, just as he has said,
“As I swore in my anger,
‘They will never enter into my rest.’ ”
And yet these works have been accomplished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
3 Now we who have believed enjoy that rest. God said,
“When I was angry I took an oath.
I said, ‘They will never enjoy the rest I planned for them.’ ”
Ever since God created the world, his work has been finished.
4 Somewhere he spoke about the seventh day. He said, “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.”
Hebrews 4:3–4 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said,

They shall not enter My rest,”
although His works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;
