Daniel 2:7–8

7 Once more they replied, “Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will interpret it.”

8 Then the king answered, “I am certain that you are trying to gain time, because you realize that this is what I have firmly decided:

7 They answered a second time and said, “Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show its interpretation.” 8 The king answered and said, “I know with certainty that you are trying to gain time, because you see that the word from me is firm—

7 They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it. 8 The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

7 They said again, “Please, Your Majesty. Tell us the dream, and we will tell you what it means.”

8 The king replied, “I know what you are doing! You’re stalling for time because you know I am serious when I say,

7 Again the wise men said to the king, “Tell us, your servants, the dream, and we will tell you what it means.”

8 King Nebuchadnezzar answered, “I know you are trying to get more time, because you know that I meant what I said.

7 They answered the second time and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. 8 The king answered and said, I know of a certainty that ye would gain time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

7 They answered the second time and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation. 8 The king answered and said, I know of a certainty that ye would gain time, because ye see the word is gone forth from me;

7 Once more they said, “Your Majesty, tell us the dream, and we’ll tell you its meaning.” 

8 The king replied, “I’m sure you’re trying to buy some time because you know that I meant what I said.

7 They answered a second time, “May the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will give the interpretation.”

8 The king replied, “I know for certain you are trying to gain some time, because you see that my word is final.

7 They answered a second time, “Let the king first tell his servants the dream, then we can give its interpretation.” 8 The king answered, “I know with certainty that you are trying to gain time because you see the decree from me is firm:

7 They answered once more and said, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants and we will make the explanation known.” 8 The king answered and said, “Certainly I know that you are trying to gain time because you have seen that this matter is firmly decreed by me,

7 Once more they replied, “King Nebuchadnezzar, tell us what you dreamed. Then we’ll tell you what it means.”

8 The king answered, “I know what you are doing. You are trying to gain more time. You realize that I’ve made up my mind.

7 They answered a second time and said, “Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare the interpretation.”

8 The king replied, “I know for certain that you are bargaining for time, inasmuch as you have seen that the command from me is firm,
