John 11:48–50

48 If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation.”

49 And one of them, dCaiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50 enor do you consider that it is expedient for 5us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish.”

49 Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all! 50 You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”
