17 “Edom will become an object of horror;

all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff

because of all its wounds.

18 As Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown,

along with their neighboring towns,”

says the Lord,

“so no one will live there;

no people will dwell in it.

17 “Edom shall become a horror. Everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its disasters. 18 As when Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities were overthrown, says the Lord, no man shall dwell there, no man shall sojourn in her.

17 Also Edom shall be a desolation:

Every one that goeth by it shall be astonished,

And shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.

18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah

And the neighbour cities thereof, saith the Lord,

No man shall abide there,

Neither shall a son of man dwell in it.

17 “Edom will be an object of horror.

18 It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah

and their neighboring towns,” says the Lord.

“No one will live there;

no one will inhabit it.

17 “Edom will be destroyed.

People who pass by will be shocked to see the destroyed cities,

and they will be amazed at all her injuries.

18 Edom will be destroyed like the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah

and the towns around them,” says the Lord.

“No one will live there!

No one will stay in Edom.”

and their neighbors,” says Yahweh,

“no one will live there,

and the son of humankind will not dwell as an alien in it.

17 “People of Edom,

all those who pass by you will be shocked.

They will make fun of you

because of all of your wounds.

18 Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

So were the towns that were near them,”

says the Lord.

“You will be just like them.

No one will live in your land.

No one will stay there even for a short time.

17 “Edom will become an object of horror; everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss at all its wounds.

18 “Like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah with its neighbors,” says the Lord, “no one will live there, nor will a son of man reside in it.
