Isaiah 52:14–15 — The New International Version (NIV)

14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him—

his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being

and his form marred beyond human likeness—

15 so he will sprinkle many nations,

and kings will shut their mouths because of him.

For what they were not told, they will see,

and what they have not heard, they will understand.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — English Standard Version (ESV)

14 As many were astonished at you—

his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance,

and his form beyond that of the children of mankind—

15 so shall he sprinkle many nations.

Kings shall shut their mouths because of him,

for that which has not been told them they see,

and that which they have not heard they understand.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

14 As many were astonied at thee;

His visage was so marred more than any man,

And his form more than the sons of men:

15 So shall he sprinkle many nations;

The kings shall shut their mouths at him:

For that which had not been told them shall they see;

And that which they had not heard shall they consider.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — New Living Translation (NLT)

14 But many were amazed when they saw him.

His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human,

and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.

15 And he will startle many nations.

Kings will stand speechless in his presence.

For they will see what they had not been told;

they will understand what they had not heard about.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — New Century Version (NCV)

14 Many people were shocked when they saw him.

His appearance was so damaged he did not look like a man;

his form was so changed they could barely tell he was human.

15 But now he will surprise many nations.

Kings will be amazed and shut their mouths.

They will see things they had not been told about him,

and they will understand things they had not heard.”

Isaiah 52:14–15 — American Standard Version (ASV)

14 Like as many were astonished at thee (his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men), 15 so shall he sprinkle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they understand.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

14 As many were astonished at thee—his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the children of men 15 —so shall he astonish many nations; kings shall shut their mouths at him: for what had not been told them shall they see, and what they had not heard shall they consider.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

14 Many will be shocked by him.

His appearance will be so disfigured

that he won’t look like any other man.

His looks will be so disfigured

that he will hardly look like a human.

15 He will cleanse many nations ⸤with his blood⸥.

Kings will shut their mouths because of him.

They will see things that they had never been told.

They will understand things that they had never heard.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

14 Just as many were appalled at You —

His appearance was so disfigured

that He did not look like a man,

and His form did not resemble a human being—

15 so He will sprinkle many nations.

Kings will shut their mouths because of Him,

For they will see what had not been told them,

and they will understand what they had not heard.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

14 Just as there were many who were astonished at him

—so marred was his appearance, beyond human semblance,

and his form beyond that of mortals—

15 so he shall startle many nations;

kings shall shut their mouths because of him;

for that which had not been told them they shall see,

and that which they had not heard they shall contemplate.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

14 Just as many were appalled at you—

such was his appearance beyond human disfigurement,

and his form beyond the sons of mankind—

15 so he shall sprinkle many nations;

because of him, kings shall shut their mouths.

For they shall see what has not been told them,

and they shall consider with full attention what they have not heard.

Isaiah 52:14–15 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

14 Many people were shocked when they saw him.

He was so scarred that he did not look like a man at all.

His body was so twisted that he did not look like a human being anymore.

15 But many nations will be surprised when they see what he has done.

Kings will be so amazed that they will not be able to say anything.

They will understand things they were never told about.

They will know the meaning of things they never heard about.”

Isaiah 52:14–15 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

14 Just as many were astonished at you, My people,

So His appearance was marred more than any man

And His form more than the sons of men.

15 Thus He will sprinkle many nations,

Kings will shut their mouths on account of Him;

For what had not been told them they will see,

And what they had not heard they will understand.
