Isaiah 57:4–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

Who are you mocking?

At whom do you sneer

and stick out your tongue?

Are you not a brood of rebels,

the offspring of liars?

You burn with lust among the oaks

and under every spreading tree;

you sacrifice your children in the ravines

and under the overhanging crags.

Isaiah 57:4–5 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Whom are you mocking?

Against whom do you open your mouth wide

and stick out your tongue?

Are you not children of transgression,

the offspring of deceit,

you who burn with lust among the oaks,

under every green tree,

who slaughter your children in the valleys,

under the clefts of the rocks?

Isaiah 57:4–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Against whom do ye sport yourselves?

Against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue?

Are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,

Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree,

Slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?

Isaiah 57:4–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Whom do you mock,

making faces and sticking out your tongues?

You children of sinners and liars!

You worship your idols with great passion

beneath the oaks and under every green tree.

You sacrifice your children down in the valleys,

among the jagged rocks in the cliffs.

Isaiah 57:4–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

Of whom are you making fun?

Whom are you insulting?

At whom do you stick out your tongue?

You turn against God,

and you are liars.

You have sexual relations under every green tree

to worship your gods.

You kill children in the ravines

and sacrifice them in the rocky places.

Isaiah 57:4–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and put out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, ye that inflame yourselves among the oaks, under every green tree; that slay the children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks?

Isaiah 57:4–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom do ye make a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? Are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, inflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks?

Isaiah 57:4–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Whom are you making fun of?

Whom are you making a face at?

Whom are you sticking out your tongue at?

Aren’t you rebellious children,

descendants of liars?

You burn with lust under oak trees

and under every large tree.

You slaughter children in the valleys

and under the cracks in the rocks.

Isaiah 57:4–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Who is it you are mocking?

Who is it you are opening your mouth

and sticking out your tongue at?

Isn’t it you, you rebellious children,

you race of liars,

who burn with lust among the oaks,

under every green tree,

who slaughter children in the wadis

below the clefts of the rocks?

Isaiah 57:4–5 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Whom are you mocking?

Against whom do you open your mouth wide

and stick out your tongue?

under every green tree;

you that slaughter your children in the valleys,

under the clefts of the rocks?

Isaiah 57:4–5 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

who slaughter children in the valleys,

under the clefts of the rocks?

Isaiah 57:4–5 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Who are you making fun of?

Who are you laughing at?

Who are you sticking your tongue out at?

You are people who refuse to obey me.

You are just a bunch of liars!

You burn with sinful longing among the oak trees.

You worship your gods by having sex under every green tree.

You sacrifice your children in the valleys.

You also do it under the cliffs.

Isaiah 57:4–5 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Against whom do you jest?

Against whom do you open wide your mouth

And stick out your tongue?

Who inflame yourselves among the oaks,

Under every luxuriant tree,

Who slaughter the children in the ravines,

Under the clefts of the crags?
