Isaiah 33:2–6 — The New International Version (NIV)

Lord, be gracious to us;

we long for you.

Be our strength every morning,

our salvation in time of distress.

At the uproar of your army, the peoples flee;

when you rise up, the nations scatter.

Your plunder, O nations, is harvested as by young locusts;

like a swarm of locusts people pounce on it.

The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high;

he will fill Zion with his justice and righteousness.

He will be the sure foundation for your times,

a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;

the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — English Standard Version (ESV)

O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you.

Be our arm every morning,

our salvation in the time of trouble.

At the tumultuous noise peoples flee;

when you lift yourself up, nations are scattered,

and your spoil is gathered as the caterpillar gathers;

as locusts leap, it is leapt upon.

The Lord is exalted, for he dwells on high;

he will fill Zion with justice and righteousness,

and he will be the stability of your times,

abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge;

the fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

O Lord, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee:

Be thou their arm every morning,

Our salvation also in the time of trouble.

At the noise of the tumult the people fled;

At the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.

And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller:

As the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.

The Lord is exalted; for he dwelleth on high:

He hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.

And wisdom and knowledge shall be

The stability of thy times, and strength of salvation:

The fear of the Lord is his treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

But Lord, be merciful to us,

for we have waited for you.

Be our strong arm each day

and our salvation in times of trouble.

The enemy runs at the sound of your voice.

When you stand up, the nations flee!

Just as caterpillars and locusts strip the fields and vines,

so the fallen army of Assyria will be stripped!

Though the Lord is very great and lives in heaven,

he will make Jerusalem his home of justice and righteousness.

In that day he will be your sure foundation,

providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.

The fear of the Lord will be your treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

Lord, be kind to us.

We have waited for your help.

Give us strength every morning.

Save us when we are in trouble.

Your powerful voice makes people run away in fear;

your greatness causes the nations to run away.

Like locusts, your enemies will take away the things you stole in war.

Like locusts rushing about, they will take your wealth.

The Lord is very great, and he lives in a high place.

He fills Jerusalem with fairness and justice.

He will be your safety.

He is full of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.

Respect for the Lord is the greatest treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

O Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. At the noise of the tumult the peoples are fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations are scattered. And your spoil shall be gathered as the caterpillar gathereth: as locusts leap shall men leap upon it. Jehovah is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness. And there shall be stability in thy times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge: the fear of Jehovah is thy treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be their arm every morning, yea, our salvation in the time of trouble. At the noise of the tumult the peoples fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered. And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpillar: as the running of locusts shall they run upon it. Jehovah is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with justice and righteousness; and he shall be the stability of thy times, the riches of salvation, wisdom and knowledge: the fear of Jehovah shall be your treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

O Lord, have pity on us.

We wait with hope for you.

Be our strength in the morning.

Yes, be our savior in times of trouble.

People flee from the noise of ⸤your⸥ army.

Nations scatter when you attack.

You nations, your loot is gathered as grasshoppers harvest a crop.

Like swarming locusts, people rush for your loot.

The Lord is honored because he lives on high.

He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness.

He will be the foundation of your future.

The riches of salvation are wisdom and knowledge.

The fear of the Lord is ⸤your⸥ treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Lord, be gracious to us! We wait for You.

Be our strength every morning

and our salvation in time of trouble.

The peoples flee at the thunderous noise;

the nations scatter when You rise in Your majesty.

Your spoil will be gathered as locusts are gathered;

people will swarm over it like an infestation of locusts.

The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high;

He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.

There will be times of security for you—

a storehouse of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.

The fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you.

Be our arm every morning,

our salvation in the time of trouble.

At the sound of tumult, peoples fled;

before your majesty, nations scattered.

Spoil was gathered as the caterpillar gathers;

as locusts leap, they leaped upon it.

The Lord is exalted, he dwells on high;

he filled Zion with justice and righteousness;

he will be the stability of your times,

abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge;

the fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Yahweh, be gracious to us, we wait for you.

Be our arm in the mornings,

indeed our salvation in the time of trouble.

At the sound of tumult, peoples fled;

because of your exaltation, nations scattered.

And your spoil is gathered,

as the gathering of the locust,

as a swarm of locusts storming on it.

Yahweh is exalted, for he dwells on high;

he filled Zion with justice and righteousness,

and he will be the security of your times,

an abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.

The fear of Yahweh is his treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Lord, show us your favor.

We long for you to help us.

Make us strong every morning.

Save us when we’re in trouble.

When the nations hear you thunder, they run away.

When you rise up against them, they scatter.

Nations, what you have taken in battle is destroyed.

It’s as if young locusts had eaten it up.

Like large numbers of locusts,

people rush to get it.

The Lord is honored. He lives in heaven.

He will fill Zion’s people with what is fair and right.

He will be the firm foundation for their entire lives.

He will give them all of the wisdom, knowledge and saving power they will ever need.

Respect for the Lord is the key to that treasure.

Isaiah 33:2–6 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

O Lord, be gracious to us; we have waited for You.

Be their strength every morning,

Our salvation also in the time of distress.

At the sound of the tumult peoples flee;

At the lifting up of Yourself nations disperse.

Your spoil is gathered as the caterpillar gathers;

As locusts rushing about men rush about on it.

The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high;

He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.

And He will be the stability of your times,

A wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge;

The fear of the Lord is his treasure.
