Hosea 5:3–4 — The New International Version (NIV)

I know all about Ephraim;

Israel is not hidden from me.

Ephraim, you have now turned to prostitution;

Israel is corrupt.

“Their deeds do not permit them

to return to their God.

A spirit of prostitution is in their heart;

they do not acknowledge the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — English Standard Version (ESV)

I know Ephraim,

and Israel is not hidden from me;

for now, O Ephraim, you have played the whore;

Israel is defiled.

Their deeds do not permit them

to return to their God.

For the spirit of whoredom is within them,

and they know not the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me:

For now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God:

For the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them,

And they have not known the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)

I know what you are like, O Ephraim.

You cannot hide yourself from me, O Israel.

You have left me as a prostitute leaves her husband;

you are utterly defiled.

Your deeds won’t let you return to your God.

You are a prostitute through and through,

and you do not know the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

I know all about the people of Israel;

what they have done is not hidden from me.

Now that Israel acts like a prostitute,

it has made itself unclean.

“They will not give up their deeds

and return to their God.

They are determined to be unfaithful to me;

they do not know the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, O Ephraim, thou hast played the harlot, Israel is defiled. Their doings will not suffer them to turn unto their God; for the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not Jehovah.

Hosea 5:3–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, Ephraim, thou hast committed whoredom; Israel is defiled. Their doings do not allow them to return unto their God; for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they know not Jehovah.

Hosea 5:3–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

I know Ephraim,

and Israel isn’t a stranger to me.

Now, Ephraim, you are acting like a prostitute,

and Israel is unclean.

“The wicked things that the people have done

keep them from returning to their God.

They have a spirit of prostitution,

and they don’t know the Lord

Hosea 5:3–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

I know Ephraim,

and Israel is not hidden from Me.

For now, Ephraim,

you have acted promiscuously;

Israel is defiled.

Their actions do not allow them

to return to their God,

for a spirit of promiscuity is among them,

and they do not know the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

I know Ephraim,

and Israel is not hidden from me;

for now, O Ephraim, you have played the whore;

Israel is defiled.

Their deeds do not permit them

to return to their God.

For the spirit of whoredom is within them,

and they do not know the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

I myself know Ephraim,

and Israel is not hidden from me;

because now you have played the whore, O Ephraim—

Israel is defiled.

Their deeds do not permit them

to return them to God.

Because a spirit of whoredom is in their midst,

they do not know Yahweh.

Hosea 5:3–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

People of Ephraim, I know all about you.

What you are doing is not hidden from me.

Now you have joined yourselves to other gods.

You have made yourselves ‘unclean.’

“You can’t return to me

because you have done so many evil things.

In your hearts you long to act like prostitutes.

You do not recognize me as the Lord.

Hosea 5:3–4 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from Me;

For now, O Ephraim, you have played the harlot,

Israel has defiled itself.

Their deeds will not allow them

To return to their God.

For a spirit of harlotry is within them,

And they do not know the Lord.
