Genesis 4:2–5
2 Then she bore again, this time his brother 2Abel. Now aAbel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And 3in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit bof the ground to the Lord. 4 Abel also brought of cthe firstborn of his flock and of dtheir fat. And the Lord erespected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.

2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.
Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, 5 but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected.

The Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering. 5 But he wasn’t pleased with Cain and his offering. So Cain became very angry. His face was sad.
