2 Kings 14:17–22

17 sAmaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel. 18 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 19 And tthey formed a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to uLachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there. 20 Then they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the City of David.

21 And all the people of Judah took vAzariah, 7who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah. 22 He built wElath 8and restored it to Judah, after 9the king rested with his fathers.

17 Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel. 18 As for the other events of Amaziah’s reign, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?

19 They conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent men after him to Lachish and killed him there. 20 He was brought back by horse and was buried in Jerusalem with his ancestors, in the City of David.

21 Then all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah. 22 He was the one who rebuilt Elath and restored it to Judah after Amaziah rested with his ancestors.

21 All the people of Judah had crowned Amaziah’s sixteen-year-old son, Uzziah, as king in place of his father, Amaziah. 22 After his father’s death, Uzziah rebuilt the town of Elath and restored it to Judah.

21 Then all the people of Judah made Uzziah king in place of his father Amaziah. Uzziah was sixteen years old. 22 He rebuilt the town of Elath and made it part of Judah again after Amaziah died.

19 Some people made evil plans against Amaziah in Jerusalem. So he ran away to Lachish. But they sent men to Lachish after him. There they killed him. 20 His body was brought back on a horse. Then he was buried in the family tomb in Jerusalem, the City of David.

21 All of the people of Judah made Uzziah king. He was 16 years old. They made him king in place of his father Amaziah. 22 Uzziah rebuilt Elath. He brought it under Judah’s control again. He did it after Amaziah joined the members of his family who had already died.
