Micah 1:11–12

11 Pass on your way,

inhabitants of Shaphir,

in nakedness and shame;

the inhabitants of Zaanan

do not come out;

the lamentation of Beth-ezel

shall take away from you its standing place.

12 For the inhabitants of Maroth

wait anxiously for good,

because disaster has come down from the Lord

to the gate of Jerusalem.

11 Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked:

The inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Beth-ezel;

He shall receive of you his standing.

12 For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good:

But evil came down from the Lord unto the gate of Jerusalem.

11 You people in Shaphir,

go as captives into exile—naked and ashamed.

The people of Zaanan

dare not come outside their walls.

The people of Beth-ezel mourn,

for their house has no support.

12 The people of Maroth anxiously wait for relief,

but only bitterness awaits them

as the Lord’s judgment reaches

even to the gates of Jerusalem.

11 Pass by in naked shame, you inhabitant of Shaphir;

The inhabitant of Zaanan does not go out.

Beth Ezel mourns;

Its place to stand is taken away from you.

12 For the inhabitant of Maroth pined for good,

But disaster came down from the Lord

To the gate of Jerusalem.

11 Pass on your way, naked and ashamed,

you who live in Shaphir.

Those who live in Zaanan

won’t come out.

The people in Beth Ezel will cry,

but they will not give you any support.

12 Those who live in Maroth

will be anxious for good news to come,

because trouble will come from the Lord,

all the way to the gate of Jerusalem.

11 Pass away, O inhabitant of Shaphir, in nakedness and shame: the inhabitant of Zaanan is not come forth; the wailing of Beth-ezel shall take from you the stay thereof. 12 For the inhabitant of Maroth waiteth anxiously for good, because evil is come down from Jehovah unto the gate of Jerusalem.

11 Pass away, inhabitress of Shaphir, in nakedness and shame. The inhabitress of Zaanan is not come forth for the lamentation of Beth-ezel: he will take from you its shelter. 12 For the inhabitress of Maroth waited anxiously for good; but evil hath come down from Jehovah unto the gate of Jerusalem.

11 Pass by, naked and ashamed, inhabitants of Shaphir. 

Don’t come out, inhabitants of Zaanan. 

Beth Ezel is in mourning. 

It will take its support away from you. 

12 Wait anxiously for good, inhabitants of Maroth. 

From the Lord disaster will come on the gates of Jerusalem. 

11 Depart in shameful nakedness,

you residents of Shaphir;

the residents of Zaanan will not come out.

Beth-ezel is lamenting;

its support is taken from you.

12 Though the residents of Maroth

anxiously wait for something good,

disaster has come from the Lord

to the gate of Jerusalem.

11 Pass on your way,

inhabitants of Shaphir,

in nakedness and shame;

the inhabitants of Zaanan

do not come forth;

Beth-ezel is wailing

and shall remove its support from you.

12 For the inhabitants of Maroth

wait anxiously for good,

yet disaster has come down from the Lord

to the gate of Jerusalem.

11 Pass on, you inhabitants of Shaphir,

in naked shame.

The inhabitants of Zaanan do not come forth;

the wailing of Beth-ha-Ezel will take its protection from you.

12 For the inhabitants of Maroth

writhed for good,

because disaster has come down from Yahweh

to the gate of Jerusalem.

11 You who live in the town of Shaphir,

leave in shame and without your clothes.

Those who live in Zaanan

won’t come out to help you.

The people in Beth Ezel will sob.

They won’t be able to help keep you safe.

12 Those who live in Maroth will groan with pain

as they wait for help.

That’s because the Lord will bring trouble on them.

It will reach the very gate of Jerusalem.

11 Go on your way, inhabitant of Shaphir, in shameful nakedness.

The inhabitant of Zaanan does not escape.

The lamentation of Beth-ezel: “He will take from you its support.”

12 For the inhabitant of Maroth

Becomes weak waiting for good,

Because a calamity has come down from the Lord

To the gate of Jerusalem.
