Psalm 110–112

Psalm 110

Of David. A psalm.

¹The Lord says^c to my lord:^a

“Sit at my right hand^d

until I make your enemies

a footstool for your feet.”^e

²The Lord will extend your mighty scepter^f from Zion,^g saying,

“Rule^h in the midst of your enemies!”

³Your troops will be willing

on your day of battle.

Arrayed in holy splendor,ⁱ

your young men will come to you

like dew from the morning’s womb.^bj

⁴The Lord has sworn

and will not change his mind:^k

“You are a priest forever,^l

in the order of Melchizedek.^m”

⁵The Lord is at your right hand^c;ⁿ

he will crush kings^o on the day of his wrath.^p

⁶He will judge the nations,^q heaping up the dead^r

and crushing the rulers^s of the whole earth.

⁷He will drink from a brook along the way,^d

and so he will lift his head high.^t

Psalm 111^a

¹Praise the Lord.^b

I will extol the Lord^u with all my heart^v

in the council^w of the upright and in the assembly.^x

²Great are the works^y of the Lord;

they are pondered by all^z who delight in them.

³Glorious and majestic are his deeds,

and his righteousness endures^a forever.

⁴He has caused his wonders to be remembered;

the Lord is gracious and compassionate.^b

⁵He provides food^c for those who fear him;^d

he remembers his covenant^e forever.

⁶He has shown his people the power of his works,^f

giving them the lands of other nations.^g

⁷The works of his hands^h are faithful and just;

all his precepts are trustworthy.ⁱ

⁸They are established for ever^j and ever,

enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.

⁹He provided redemption^k for his people;

he ordained his covenant forever—

holy and awesome^l is his name.

¹⁰The fear of the Lord^m is the beginning of wisdom;ⁿ

all who follow his precepts have good understanding.^o

To him belongs eternal praise.^p

Psalm 112^a

¹Praise the Lord.^bq

Blessed are those^r who fear the Lord,^s

who find great delight^t in his commands.

²Their children^u will be mighty in the land;

the generation of the upright will be blessed.

³Wealth and riches^v are in their houses,

and their righteousness endures^w forever.

⁴Even in darkness light dawns^x for the upright,

for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.^y

⁵Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,^z

who conduct their affairs with justice.

⁶Surely the righteous will never be shaken;^a

they will be remembered^b forever.

⁷They will have no fear of bad news;

their hearts are steadfast,^c trusting in the Lord.^d

⁸Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;^e

in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.^f

⁹They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor,^g

their righteousness endures^h forever;

their horn^c will be liftedⁱ high in honor.

¹⁰The wicked will see^j and be vexed,

they will gnash their teeth^k and waste away;^l

the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.^m
