28 If you say, ‘How we will pursue him!’

and, ‘The root of the matter is found in him,’

29 be afraid of the sword,

for wrath brings the punishment of the sword,

that you may know there is a judgment.”

28 But ye should say, Why persecute we him, Seeing the root of the matter is found in me? 29 Be ye afraid of the sword: For wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, That ye may know there is a judgment.

28 “How dare you go on persecuting me,

saying, ‘It’s his own fault’?

29 You should fear punishment yourselves,

for your attitude deserves punishment.

Then you will know that there is indeed a judgment.”

28 If you should say, ‘How shall we persecute him?’—

Since the root of the matter is found in me,

29 Be afraid of the sword for yourselves;

For wrath brings the punishment of the sword,

That you may know there is a judgment.”

28 “If you say, ‘We will continue to trouble Job,

because the problem lies with him,’

29 you should be afraid of the sword yourselves.

God’s anger will bring punishment by the sword.

Then you will know there is judgment.”

28 If ye say, How we will persecute him!

29 Fear death, 

because ⸤your anger⸥ is punishable by death. 

Then you will know there is a judge.” 

28 If you say, “How will we pursue him,

since the root of the problem lies with him?”

29 then be afraid of the sword,

because wrath brings punishment by the sword,

so that you may know there is a judgment.

28 If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’

28 “If you say, ‘How will we persecute him?’

And ‘The root of the trouble is found’ in me,

29 be afraid for yourselves because of the sword,

for wrath brings punishment by the sword,

so that you may know that there is judgment.”

28 “You might say, ‘Let’s keep bothering Job.

After all, he’s the cause of all of his suffering.’

29 But you should be afraid when God comes to judge you.

He’ll be angry. He’ll punish you with his sword.

Then you will know that he is the Judge.”

28 “If you say, ‘How shall we persecute him?’

And ‘What pretext for a case against him can we find?’

29 “Then be afraid of the sword for yourselves,

For wrath brings the punishment of the sword,

So that you may know there is judgment.”
