Isaiah 40:28–31 — English Standard Version (ESV)

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

his understanding is unsearchable.

29 He gives power to the faint,

and to him who has no might he increases strength.

30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,

and young men shall fall exhausted;

31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28–31 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard,

That the everlasting God, the Lord,

The Creator of the ends of the earth,

Fainteth not, neither is weary?

There is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint;

And to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings as eagles;

They shall run, and not be weary;

And they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28–31 — New Living Translation (NLT)

28 Have you never heard?

Have you never understood?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of all the earth.

He never grows weak or weary.

No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

29 He gives power to the weak

and strength to the powerless.

30 Even youths will become weak and tired,

and young men will fall in exhaustion.

31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.

They will soar high on wings like eagles.

They will run and not grow weary.

They will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28–31 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

28 Have you not known?

Have you not heard?

The everlasting God, the Lord,

The Creator of the ends of the earth,

Neither faints nor is weary.

His understanding is unsearchable.

29 He gives power to the weak,

And to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall,

31 But those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28–31 — New Century Version (NCV)

28 Surely you know.

Surely you have heard.

The Lord is the God who lives forever,

who created all the world.

He does not become tired or need to rest.

No one can understand how great his wisdom is.

29 He gives strength to those who are tired

and more power to those who are weak.

30 Even children become tired and need to rest,

and young people trip and fall.

31 But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again.

They will rise up as an eagle in the sky;

they will run and not need rest;

they will walk and not become tired.

Isaiah 40:28–31 — American Standard Version (ASV 1901)

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? The everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28–31 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

28 Dost thou not know, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not nor tireth? There is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and shall tire, and the young men shall stumble and fall; 31 but they that wait upon Jehovah shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not tire; they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28–31 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

28 Don’t you know?

Haven’t you heard?

The eternal God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth,

His understanding is beyond reach.

29 He gives strength to those who grow tired

and increases the strength of those who are weak.

30 Even young people grow tired and become weary,

31 Yet, the strength of those who wait with hope in the Lord

will be renewed.

They will soar on wings like eagles.

They will run and won’t become weary.

They will walk and won’t grow tired.
