Isaiah 3:16–19

16 The Lord said:

Because the daughters of Zion are haughty

and walk with outstretched necks,

glancing wantonly with their eyes,

mincing along as they go,

tinkling with their feet,

17 therefore the Lord will strike with a scab

the heads of the daughters of Zion,

and the Lord will lay bare their secret parts.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; 19 the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves;

16 Moreover the Lord saith,

Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,

And walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes,

Walking and mincing as they go,

And making a tinkling with their feet:

17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion,

And the Lord will discover their secret parts.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet,

And their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

16 The Lord says, “Beautiful Zion is haughty:

craning her elegant neck,

flirting with her eyes,

walking with dainty steps,

tinkling her ankle bracelets.

17 So the Lord will send scabs on her head;

the Lord will make beautiful Zion bald.”

18 On that day of judgment

the Lord will strip away everything that makes her beautiful:

ornaments, headbands, crescent necklaces,

19 earrings, bracelets, and veils;

16 Moreover the Lord says:

“Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,

And walk with outstretched necks

And wanton eyes,

Walking and mincing as they go,

Making a jingling with their feet,

17 Therefore the Lord will strike with a scab

The crown of the head of the daughters of Zion,

And the Lord will uncover their secret parts.”

18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery:

The jingling anklets, the scarves, and the crescents;

19 The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils;

16 The Lord says,

“The women of Jerusalem are proud.

They walk around with their heads held high,

and they flirt with their eyes.

They take quick, short steps,

making noise with their ankle bracelets.”

17 So the Lord will put sores on the heads of those women in Jerusalem,

and he will make them lose their hair.

18 At that time the Lord will take away everything that makes them proud: their beautiful ankle bracelets, their headbands, their necklaces shaped like the moon, 19 their earrings, bracelets, and veils,

16 Moreover Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet; 17 therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts. 18 In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents; 19 the pendants, and the bracelets, and the mufflers;

16 And Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet; 17 therefore the Lord will make bald the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts. 18 In that day the Lord will take away the ornament of anklets, and the little suns and crescents, 19 the pearl-drops, and the bracelets, and the veils,

16 The Lord adds, 

“The women of Zion are arrogant. 

They walk with their noses in the air, 

making seductive glances, 

taking short little steps, 

jingling the ankle bracelets on their feet.” 

17 The Lord will cause sores ⸤to appear⸥ 

on the heads of the women of Zion, 

and the Lord will make their foreheads bare. 

18 On that day the Lord will take away their fine things: jingling anklets, headbands, crescent-shaped necklaces, 19 pendants, bracelets, scarfs,

16 The Lord also says:

Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,

walking with heads held high

and seductive eyes,

going along with prancing steps,

jingling their ankle bracelets,

17 the Lord will put scabs on the heads

of the daughters of Zion,

and the Lord will shave their foreheads bare.

18 On that day the Lord will strip their finery: ankle bracelets, headbands, crescents, 19 pendants, bracelets, veils,

16 The Lord said:

Because the daughters of Zion are haughty

and walk with outstretched necks,

glancing wantonly with their eyes,

mincing along as they go,

tinkling with their feet;

17 the Lord will afflict with scabs

the heads of the daughters of Zion,

and the Lord will lay bare their scalps and heads.

18 On that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; 19 the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarfs;

16 And Yahweh said: “Because the daughters of Zion are haughty,

and they walk with outstretched neck,

and they give flirting glances with their eyes,

mincing along as they go,

and with their feet they rattle their bangles,

17 the Lord will make the heads of the daughters of Zion scabby,

and Yahweh will lay their foreheads bare.”

18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets

and the headbands and the crescent necklaces,

19 the pendants and the bracelets and the veils,

16 The Lord continues,

“The women in Zion are very proud.

They walk along with their noses in the air.

They tease men with their eyes.

They walk with quick, short steps.

Little chains jingle on their ankles.

17 So I will put sores on the heads of Zion’s women.

And I will remove the hair from their heads.”

18 At that time the Lord will take away the beautiful things they wear. He will take away their decorations, headbands and moon-shaped necklaces. 19 He’ll take away their earrings, bracelets and veils.

16 Moreover, the Lord said, “Because the daughters of Zion are proud

And walk with heads held high and seductive eyes,

And go along with mincing steps

And tinkle the bangles on their feet,

17 Therefore the Lord will afflict the scalp of the daughters of Zion with scabs,

And the Lord will make their foreheads bare.”

18 In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, headbands, crescent ornaments,

19 dangling earrings, bracelets, veils,
