Psalm 91–93

Psalm 91

¹Whoever dwells in the shelter^y of the Most High

will rest in the shadow^z of the Almighty.^a

²I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge^a and my fortress,^b

my God, in whom I trust.”

³Surely he will save you

from the fowler’s snare^c

and from the deadly pestilence.^d

⁴He will cover you with his feathers,

and under his wings you will find refuge;^e

his faithfulness will be your shield^f and rampart.

⁵You will not fear^g the terror of night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

⁶nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

nor the plague that destroys at midday.

⁷A thousand may fall at your side,

ten thousand at your right hand,

but it will not come near you.

⁸You will only observe with your eyes

and see the punishment of the wicked.^h

⁹If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”

and you make the Most High your dwelling,

¹⁰no harmⁱ will overtake you,

no disaster will come near your tent.

¹¹For he will command his angels^j concerning you

to guard you in all your ways;^k

¹²they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.^l

¹³You will tread on the lion and the cobra;

you will trample the great lion and the serpent.^m

¹⁴“Because he^b loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

¹⁵He will call on me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honor him.ⁿ

¹⁶With long life^o I will satisfy him

and show him my salvation.^p”

Psalm 92^a

A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day.

¹It is good to praise the Lord

and make music^q to your name,^r O Most High,^s

²proclaiming your love in the morning^t

and your faithfulness at night,

³to the music of the ten-stringed lyre^u

and the melody of the harp.^v

⁴For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;

I sing for joy^w at what your hands have done.^x

⁵How great are your works,^y Lord,

how profound your thoughts!^z

⁶Senseless people^a do not know,

fools do not understand,

⁷that though the wicked spring up like grass

and all evildoers flourish,

they will be destroyed forever.^b

⁸But you, Lord, are forever exalted.

⁹For surely your enemies^c, Lord,

surely your enemies will perish;

all evildoers will be scattered.^d

¹⁰You have exalted my horn^be like that of a wild ox;^f

fine oils^g have been poured on me.

¹¹My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;

my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.^h

¹²The righteous will flourishⁱ like a palm tree,

they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;^j

¹³planted in the house of the Lord,

they will flourish in the courts of our God.^k

¹⁴They will still bear fruit^l in old age,

they will stay fresh and green,

¹⁵proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;

he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.^m”

Psalm 93

¹The Lord reigns,ⁿ he is robed in majesty;^o

the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;^p

indeed, the world is established,^q firm and secure.^r

²Your throne was established^s long ago;

you are from all eternity.^t

³The seas^u have lifted up, Lord,

the seas have lifted up their voice;^v

the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.^w

⁴Mightier than the thunder^x of the great waters,

mightier than the breakers^y of the sea—

the Lord on high is mighty.^z

⁵Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;

holiness^a adorns your house^b

for endless days.
