Job 13:24–27 — English Standard Version (ESV)

24 Why do you hide your face

and count me as your enemy?

25 Will you frighten a driven leaf

and pursue dry chaff?

26 For you write bitter things against me

and make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.

27 You put my feet in the stocks

and watch all my paths;

you set a limit for the soles of my feet.

Job 13:24–27 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face,

And holdest me for thine enemy?

25 Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro?

And wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26 For thou writest bitter things against me,

And makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

27 Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks,

And lookest narrowly unto all my paths;

Thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.

Job 13:24–27 — New Living Translation (NLT)

24 Why do you turn away from me?

Why do you treat me as your enemy?

25 Would you terrify a leaf blown by the wind?

Would you chase dry straw?

26 “You write bitter accusations against me

and bring up all the sins of my youth.

27 You put my feet in stocks.

You examine all my paths.

You trace all my footprints.

Job 13:24–27 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

24 Why do You hide Your face,

And regard me as Your enemy?

25 Will You frighten a leaf driven to and fro?

And will You pursue dry stubble?

26 For You write bitter things against me,

And make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.

27 You put my feet in the stocks,

And watch closely all my paths.

You set a limit for the soles of my feet.

Job 13:24–27 — New Century Version (NCV)

24 Don’t hide your face from me;

don’t think of me as your enemy.

25 Don’t punish a leaf that is blown by the wind;

don’t chase after straw.

26 You write down cruel things against me

and make me suffer for my boyhood sins.

27 You put my feet in chains

and keep close watch wherever I go.

You even mark the soles of my feet.

Job 13:24–27 — American Standard Version (ASV)

24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face,

And holdest me for thine enemy?

25 Wilt thou harass a driven leaf?

And wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26 For thou writest bitter things against me,

And makest me to inherit the iniquities of my youth:

27 Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks,

And markest all my paths;

Thou settest a bound to the soles of my feet:

Job 13:24–27 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

24 Wherefore dost thou hide thy face, and countest me for thine enemy? 25 Wilt thou terrify a driven leaf? and wilt thou pursue dry stubble? 26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth; 27 And thou puttest my feet in the stocks, and markest all my paths; thou settest a bound about the soles of my feet; —

Job 13:24–27 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

24 Why do you hide your face ⸤from me⸥ and consider me your enemy?

25 Are you trying to make a fluttering leaf tremble

or trying to chase dry husks?

26 You write down bitter accusations against me.

You make me suffer for the sins of my youth.

27 You put my feet in shackles.

You follow my trail by engraving marks on the soles of my feet.

and stand watch over all my paths,

setting a limit for the soles of my feet.

and you watch all my paths;

you carve a mark on the soles of my feet.

Job 13:24–27 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

24 Why do you turn your face away from me?

Why do you think of me as your enemy?

25 I’m already like a leaf that is blown by the wind.

Are you going to terrify me even more?

I’m already like dry straw.

Are you going to keep on chasing me?

26 You write down bitter things against me.

You make me suffer for the sins

I committed when I was young.

27 You put my feet in chains.

You watch every step I take.

You do it by putting marks on the bottom of my feet.

Job 13:24–27 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

And make me to inherit the iniquities of my youth.

27 “You put my feet in the stocks

And watch all my paths;

You set a limit for the soles of my feet,
