Isaiah 26:1–6 — English Standard Version (ESV)

In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

“We have a strong city;

he sets up salvation

as walls and bulwarks.

Open the gates,

that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in.

You keep him in perfect peace

whose mind is stayed on you,

because he trusts in you.

Trust in the Lord forever,

for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

For he has humbled

the inhabitants of the height,

the lofty city.

He lays it low, lays it low to the ground,

casts it to the dust.

The foot tramples it,

the feet of the poor,

the steps of the needy.”

Isaiah 26:1–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah;

We have a strong city;

Salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

Open ye the gates,

That the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on thee:

Because he trusteth in thee.

Trust ye in the Lord for ever:

For in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

For he bringeth down them that dwell on high;

The lofty city, he layeth it low;

He layeth it low, even to the ground;

He bringeth it even to the dust.

The foot shall tread it down,

Even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

In that day, everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song:

Our city is strong!

We are surrounded by the walls of God’s salvation.

Open the gates to all who are righteous;

allow the faithful to enter.

You will keep in perfect peace

all who trust in you,

all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Trust in the Lord always,

for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.

He humbles the proud

and brings down the arrogant city.

He brings it down to the dust.

The poor and oppressed trample it underfoot,

and the needy walk all over it.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

“We have a strong city;

God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks.

Open the gates,

That the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.

You will keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on You,

Because he trusts in You.

Trust in the Lord forever,

For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

For He brings down those who dwell on high,

The lofty city;

He lays it low,

He lays it low to the ground,

He brings it down to the dust.

The foot shall tread it down—

The feet of the poor

And the steps of the needy.”

Isaiah 26:1–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

At that time people will sing this song in Judah:

We have a strong city.

God protects us with its strong walls and defenses.

Open the gates,

and the good people will enter,

those who follow God.

You, Lord, give true peace

to those who depend on you,

because they trust you.

So, trust the Lord always,

because he is our Rock forever.

He will destroy the proud city,

and he will punish the people living there.

He will bring that high city down to the ground

and throw it down into the dust.

Then those who were hurt by the city will walk on its ruins;

those who were made poor by the city will trample it under their feet.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation will he appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth faith may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jehovah, even Jehovah, is an everlasting rock. For he hath brought down them that dwell on high, the lofty city: he layeth it low, he layeth it low even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust. The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation doth he appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates, and the righteous nation which keepeth faithfulness shall enter in. Thou wilt keep in perfect peace the mind stayed on thee, for he confideth in thee. Confide ye in Jehovah for ever; for in Jah, Jehovah, is the rock of ages.

For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low, he layeth it low to the ground, he bringeth it even to the dust. The foot shall tread it down, —the feet of the afflicted, the steps of the poor.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

We have a strong city.

Its walls and fortifications provide safety.

Open the gates, and let the righteous nation come in,

the nation that remains faithful.

With perfect peace you will protect those whose minds cannot be changed,

because they trust you.

Trust the Lord always,

because the Lord, the Lord alone, is an everlasting rock.

He has brought down those who live high in the towering city.

He levels it.

He levels it to the ground and throws it into the dust.

Feet trample it,

the feet of the oppressed,

the footsteps of the poor.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

We have a strong city.

Salvation is established as walls and ramparts.

Open the gates

so a righteous nation can come in—

one that remains faithful.

You will keep the mind that is dependent on You

in perfect peace,

for it is trusting in You.

Trust in the Lord forever,

because in Yah, the Lord, is an everlasting rock!

For He has humbled those who live in lofty places—

an inaccessible city.

He brings it down; He brings it down to the ground;

He throws it to the dust.

Feet trample it,

the feet of the humble,

the steps of the poor.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

We have a strong city;

he sets up victory

like walls and bulwarks.

Open the gates,

so that the righteous nation that keeps faith

may enter in.

Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace—

in peace because they trust in you.

Trust in the Lord forever,

for in the Lord God

you have an everlasting rock.

For he has brought low

the inhabitants of the height;

the lofty city he lays low.

He lays it low to the ground,

casts it to the dust.

The foot tramples it,

the feet of the poor,

the steps of the needy.

Isaiah 26:1–6 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

On that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

“We have a strong city;

he sets up victory like walls and ramparts!

Open the gates so that the righteous nation who keeps faithfulness may enter!

You will protect a firm inclination in peace,

in peace because he trusts in you.

Trust in Yahweh forever,

for in Yah, Yahweh you have an everlasting rock.

For he has thrown down the inhabitants of the height,

he lays low the lofty city.

He lays it low to the ground;

he throws her to the dust.

The foot tramples it,

the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.”

Isaiah 26:1–6 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

At that time a song will be sung in the land of Judah. It will say,

“We have a strong city.

God’s saving power surrounds it

like walls and towers.

Open its gates

so that those who do what is right can enter.

They are the people who remain faithful to God.

Lord, you will give perfect peace

to anyone who commits himself to be faithful to you.

That’s because he trusts in you.

“Trust in the Lord forever.

The Lord is the Rock.

The Lord will keep us safe forever.

He brings down those who are proud.

He pulls down cities that have high walls.

They fall down flat on the ground.

He throws them down to the dust.

The feet of those who were crushed stomp on them.

Those who were helpless walk all over them.”

Isaiah 26:1–6 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

“We have a strong city;

He sets up walls and ramparts for security.

Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter,

The one that remains faithful.

“The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace,

Because he trusts in You.

Trust in the Lord forever,

For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.

“For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable city;

He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust.

“The foot will trample it,

The feet of the afflicted, the steps of the helpless.”
