Isaiah 11:14–16 — English Standard Version (ESV)

14 But they shall swoop down on the shoulder of the Philistines in the west,

and together they shall plunder the people of the east.

They shall put out their hand against Edom and Moab,

and the Ammonites shall obey them.

15 And the Lord will utterly destroy

the tongue of the Sea of Egypt,

and will wave his hand over the River

with his scorching breath,

and strike it into seven channels,

and he will lead people across in sandals.

16 And there will be a highway from Assyria

for the remnant that remains of his people,

as there was for Israel

when they came up from the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west;

They shall spoil them of the east together:

They shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab;

And the children of Ammon shall obey them.

15 And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea;

And with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river,

And shall smite it in the seven streams,

And make men go over dryshod.

16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people,

Which shall be left, from Assyria;

Like as it was to Israel

In the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — New Living Translation (NLT)

14 They will join forces to swoop down on Philistia to the west.

Together they will attack and plunder the nations to the east.

They will occupy the lands of Edom and Moab,

and Ammon will obey them.

15 The Lord will make a dry path through the gulf of the Red Sea.

He will wave his hand over the Euphrates River,

sending a mighty wind to divide it into seven streams

so it can easily be crossed on foot.

16 He will make a highway for the remnant of his people,

the remnant coming from Assyria,

just as he did for Israel long ago

when they returned from Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

14 But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west;

Together they shall plunder the people of the East;

They shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab;

And the people of Ammon shall obey them.

15 The Lord will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt;

With His mighty wind He will shake His fist over the River,

And strike it in the seven streams,

And make men cross over dryshod.

16 There will be a highway for the remnant of His people

Who will be left from Assyria,

As it was for Israel

In the day that he came up from the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — New Century Version (NCV)

14 But Israel and Judah will attack the Philistines on the west.

Together they will take the riches from the people of the east.

They will conquer Edom and Moab,

and the people of Ammon will be under their control.

15 The Lord will dry up

the Red Sea of Egypt.

He will wave his arm over the Euphrates River

and dry it up with a scorching wind.

He will divide it into seven small rivers

so that people can walk across them with their sandals on.

16 So God’s people who are left alive

will have a way to leave Assyria,

just like the time the Israelites

came out of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — American Standard Version (ASV)

14 And they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines on the west; together shall they despoil the children of the east: they shall put forth their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 15 And Jehovah will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his scorching wind will he wave his hand over the River, and will smite it into seven streams, and cause men to march over dryshod. 16 And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people, that shall remain, from Assyria; like as there was for Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

14 but they shall fly upon the shoulder of the Philistines towards the west; together shall they spoil the sons of the east; they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab, and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 15 And Jehovah will utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind will he shake his hand over the river, and will smite it into seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. 16 And there shall be a highway for the remnant of his people which will be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day when he went up out of the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

14 They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia in the west.

Together they will loot the people of the east.

They will conquer Edom and Moab.

The people of Ammon will be subject to them.

15 The Lord will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian Sea.

He will wave his hand over the Euphrates River with his scorching wind

and divide it into seven streams

so that people can walk over it in their sandals.

16 There will be a highway

for the remaining few of his people left in Assyria

like there was for Israel when it came out of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

14 But they will swoop down

on the Philistine flank to the west.

Together they will plunder the people of the east.

They will extend their power over Edom and Moab,

and the Ammonites will be their subjects.

15 The Lord will divide the Gulf of Suez.

He will wave His hand over the Euphrates

with His mighty wind

and will split it into seven streams,

letting people walk through on foot.

16 There will be a highway for the remnant of His people

who will survive from Assyria,

as there was for Israel

when they came up from the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

together they shall plunder the people of the east.

They shall put forth their hand against Edom and Moab,

and the Ammonites shall obey them.

15 And the Lord will utterly destroy

the tongue of the sea of Egypt;

and will wave his hand over the River

with his scorching wind;

and will split it into seven channels,

and make a way to cross on foot;

16 so there shall be a highway from Assyria

for the remnant that is left of his people,

as there was for Israel

when they came up from the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

14 But they shall swoop upon the Philistine shoulder, westward.

Together they shall plunder the sons of the east.

Edom and Moab will be under their command,

and the sons of Ammon will be their subjugated people.

15 And Yahweh will divide the tongue of the sea of Egypt,

and he will wave his hand over the river with his scorching wind;

and he will strike it into seven streams,

and he will make it passable by foot.

16 So there shall be a highway from Assyria for the remnant of his people that remains,

as there was for Israel when it went up from the land of Egypt.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

They’ll take over Edom and Moab.

The people of Ammon will be under their control.

15 The Lord will dry up

the Red Sea in Egypt.

With his powerful hand he’ll send a burning wind

to sweep over the Euphrates River.

He will break it up into many streams.

Then people will be able to go across it wearing sandals.

16 There was a road the people of Israel used

when they came up from Egypt.

In the same way, there will be a wide road coming out of Assyria.

It will be used by the Lord’s people who are left alive there.

Isaiah 11:14–16 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Together they will plunder the sons of the east;

They will possess Edom and Moab,

And the sons of Ammon will be subject to them.

15 And the Lord will utterly destroy

The tongue of the Sea of Egypt;

And He will wave His hand over the River

With His scorching wind;

And He will strike it into seven streams

And make men walk over dry-shod.

16 And there will be a highway from Assyria

For the remnant of His people who will be left,

Just as there was for Israel

In the day that they came up out of the land of Egypt.
