8The man did not come from the woman. The woman came from the man.
9Also, the man was not created for the woman. The woman was created for the man. 10That’s why a woman should have her head covered. It shows that she is under authority. She should also cover her head because of the angels.
11But here is how things are for those who belong to the Lord. The woman is not independent of the man. And the man is not independent of the woman. 12The woman came from the man, and the man is born from the woman. But everything comes from God.

ESVEnglish Standard Version
For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God.

NIVNew International Version (2011)
For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels. Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

CSBChristian Standard Bible
For man did not come from woman, but woman came from man. Neither was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man. This is why a woman should have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, and man is not independent of woman. For just as woman came from man, so man comes through woman, and all things come from God.

NLTNew Living Translation
For the first man didn’t come from woman, but the first woman came from man. And man was not made for woman, but woman was made for man. For this reason, and because the angels are watching, a woman should wear a covering on her head to show she is under authority.
But among the Lord’s people, women are not independent of men, and men are not independent of women. For although the first woman came from man, every other man was born from a woman, and everything comes from God.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible
For man is not from woman, but woman from man. For indeed man was not created for the sake of the woman, but woman for the sake of the man. Because of this, the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, on account of the angels. Nevertheless, neither is woman anything apart from man, nor is man anything apart from woman in the Lord. For just as the woman is from the man, thus also the man is through the woman. But all things are from God.

KJV 1900King James Version
For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
