Read in Logos
Psalm 107:23–24: Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; they saw the deeds of the LORD, his wondrous works in the deep.

Footnotes

  1. 24 Heb “and let them proclaim his works with a ringing cry.”
  2. 25 Verses 23–30, which depict the Lord rescuing sailors from a storm at sea, do not seem to describe the exiles’ situation, unless the word picture is metaphorical. Perhaps the psalmist here broadens his scope and offers an example of God’s kindness to the needy beyond the covenant community.
  3. 26 Heb “those going down [into].”
  4. 27 Heb “doers of work on the mighty waters.”
  5. 28 Heb “he spoke and caused to stand a stormy wind.”
  6. 29 Heb “and it stirred up its [i.e., the sea’s, see v. 23] waves.”

his impressive works on the deepest seas.

He spoke, and the winds rose,

stirring up the waves.
