Footnotes

  1. 10 The word גּוּר (gur) was traditionally translated “to sojourn,” i.e., to live temporarily in a land. Here the two words are from the root: “if a sojourner sojourns.”
  2. 11 Heb “in your midst.”
  3. 12 The Hebrew text just has “to your generations,” but it means in the future.
  4. 13 The imperfect tenses must reflect the responsibility to comply with the law, and so the classifications of instruction or obligation may be applied.

Every native Israelite shall do these things in this way, in offering a food offering, with a pleasing aroma to the Lord. NIVNew International Version (2011)

“ ‘Everyone who is native-born must do these things in this way when they present a food offering as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. CSBChristian Standard Bible

“Every Israelite is to prepare these things in this way when he presents a food offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. NLTNew Living Translation

All of you native-born Israelites must follow these instructions when you offer a special gift as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. And if any foreigners visit you or live among you and want to present a special gift as a pleasing aroma to the Lord, they must follow these same procedures.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible

Every native must do these things to present an offering made by fire, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh. If an alien dwells among you, or whoever is in your midst throughout your generations, and prepares an offering made by fire, a fragrance of appeasement for Yahweh, he should do as you do.

KJV 1900King James Version

All that are born of the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord. And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord; as ye do, so he shall do.
