7:19They will discard their silver in the streets, and their gold will be treated like filth.31 Their silver and gold will not be able to deliver them on the day of the Lord’s fury.32 They will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs because their wealth33 was the obstacle leading to their iniquity.34
Footnotes
- 31 The Hebrew term can refer to menstrual impurity. The term also occurs at the end of v. 20.
- 32 Compare Zeph 1:18.
- 33 Heb “it.” Apparently the subject is the silver and gold mentioned earlier (see L. C. Allen, Ezekiel [], 1:).
- 34 The “stumbling block of their iniquity” is a unique phrase of the prophet Ezekiel (Ezek 14:3, 4, 7; 18:30; 44:12).

They will throw their silver into the streets,
and their gold will seem like something filthy.

“They will throw their money in the streets,
tossing it out like worthless trash.
Their silver and gold won’t save them
on that day of the Lord’s anger.
It will neither satisfy nor feed them,
for their greed can only trip them up.
