Footnotes

  1. 15 Or “wadis.”
  2. 16 The Hebrew term may refer to “food” in a more general sense (cf. , , ) or “bread” in particular (cf. , , ).
  3. 17 A land whose stones are iron. Since iron deposits are few and far between in Palestine, the reference here is probably to iron ore found in mines as opposed to the meteorite iron more commonly known in that area.

NLTNew Living Translation

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills. It is a land of wheat and barley; of grapevines, fig trees, and pomegranates; of olive oil and honey. It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking. It is a land where iron is as common as stone, and copper is abundant in the hills.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible

For Yahweh your God is bringing you to a good land with streams of water, springs and underground water, welling up in the valleys and in the hills, to a land of wheat and barley and vines and fig trees and pomegranate trees, a land of olive trees, olive oil and honey; to a land where you may eat food in it without scarcity; you will not find anything lacking in it, a land where its stones are iron and from its mountains you can mine copper.

KJV 1900King James Version

For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.
