10 Heb “your heads, your tribes.” The presupposes either “heads of your tribes” or “your heads, your judges,” etc. (reading שֹׁפְטֵכֶם [shofétekhem] for שִׁבְטֵיכֶם [shivtekhem]). Its comparative difficulty favors the originality of the reading. Cf. “your captains of your tribes”; “the leaders of your tribes”; “your tribal leaders.”
