19:23Through your messengers you taunted the sovereign master,35
‘With my many chariots36
I climbed up the high mountains,
the slopes of Lebanon.
I cut down its tall cedars,
and its best evergreens.
I invaded its most remote regions,37
its thickest woods.
Footnotes
- 35 The word is אֲדֹנָי (’adonai), “lord,” but some Hebrew have יְהוָה (yehvah), “Lord.”
- 36 The consonantal text (Kethib) has בְּרֶכֶב (bérekhev), but this must be dittographic (note the following רִכְבִּי [rikhbi], “my chariots”). The marginal reading (Qere) בְּרֹב (bérov), “with many,” is supported by many Hebrew and ancient versions, as well as the parallel passage in Isa 37:24.
- 37 Heb “the lodging place of its extremity.”

KJV 1900King James Version
By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said,
With the multitude of my chariots I am come up
To the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon,
And will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof:
And I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.
