Luke 9:40–45
40 “I begged Your disciples to cast it out, and they could not.”
41 And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you and put up with you? Bring your son here.”
42 While he was still approaching, the demon 1slammed him to the ground and threw him into a convulsion. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy and gave him back to his father.
43 And they were all amazed at the 1agreatness of God.
bBut while everyone was marveling at all that He was doing, He said to His disciples,
44 “Let these words sink into your ears; afor the Son of Man is going to be 1delivered into the hands of men.”
45 But athey 1did not understand this statement, and it was concealed from them so that they would not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this statement.

While everyone was marveling at all that Jesus did, he said to his disciples, 44 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.” 45 But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it.

45 They didn’t know what he meant. The meaning was hidden from them so that they didn’t understand it. Besides, they were afraid to ask him about what he had said.

42 Even while the boy was coming, the demon threw him into a fit. The boy fell to the ground. But Jesus ordered the evil spirit to leave the boy. Then Jesus healed him and gave him back to his father. 43 They were all amazed at God’s greatness.
Everyone was wondering about all that Jesus did. Then Jesus said to his disciples, 44 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you. The Son of Man is going to be handed over to men.” 45 But they didn’t understand what this meant. That was because it was hidden from them. And they were afraid to ask Jesus about it.
