Jeremiah 6:27–28

27 “I have made you a tester of metals

and my people the ore,

that you may observe

and test their ways.

28 They are all hardened rebels,

going about to slander.

They are bronze and iron;

they all act corruptly.

27 “I have made you a tester of metals among my people,

that you may know and test their ways.

28 They are all stubbornly rebellious,

going about with slanders;

they are bronze and iron;

all of them act corruptly.

27 I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way. 28 They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

27 “Jeremiah, I have made you a tester of metals,

that you may determine the quality of my people.

28 They are the worst kind of rebel,

full of slander.

They are as hard as bronze and iron,

and they lead others into corruption.

27 “I have set you as an assayer and a fortress among My people,

That you may know and test their way.

28 They are all stubborn rebels, walking as slanderers.

They are bronze and iron,

They are all corrupters;

27 “Jeremiah, I have made you like a worker who tests metal,

and my people are like the ore.

You must observe their ways

and test them.

28 All my people have turned against me and are stubborn.

They go around telling lies about others.

They are like bronze and iron

that became covered with rust.

They all act dishonestly.

27 I have made thee a trier and a fortress among my people; that thou mayest know and try their way. 28 They are all grievous revolters, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.

27 I have set thee among my people as an assayer, a fortress, that thou mayest know and try their way. 28 They are all the most rebellious of rebels, going about with slander: they are bronze and iron; they are all corrupters.

27 “Jeremiah, I have put you in charge of testing and refining my people. 

You will know how to test their ways. 

28 They are all vicious rebels. 

They go around slandering. 

They are all like bronze and iron. 

They corrupt themselves. 

27 I have appointed you to be an assayer among My people—

a refiner —

so you may know and assay their way of life.

28 All are stubborn rebels

spreading slander.

They are bronze and iron;

all of them are corrupt.

27 I have made you a tester and a refiner among my people

so that you may know and test their ways.

28 They are all stubbornly rebellious,

going about with slanders;

they are bronze and iron;

all of them act corruptly.

27 “I have made you an assayer among my people, a fortification,

so that you may know and put to the test their ways.

28 All of them are stubborn rebels,

going about talking slander.

They are bronze and iron,

they are all behaving corruptly.

27 The Lord says to me, “I have made you like one who tests metals.

My people are the ore.

I want you to watch them

and test the way they live.

28 All of them are used to disobeying me.

They go around telling lies about others.

They are like bronze mixed with iron.

All of them do very sinful things.
