Pharisees Test Jesus

1 aThe bPharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they casked Him to show them a 1sign from heaven.

2 But He replied to them, 1aWhen it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’

3 And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ aDo you know how to discern the 1appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times?

Matthew 16:1–3 — The New International Version (NIV)

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.

He replied, When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.
