Luke 20:40–43

40 And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

41 Then Jesus said to them, “Why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David? 42 David himself declares in the Book of Psalms:

“ ‘The Lord said to my Lord:

“Sit at my right hand

43 until I make your enemies

a footstool for your feet.” ’

40 For they no longer dared to ask him any question.

41 But he said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is David’s son? 42 For David himself says in the Book of Psalms,

“ ‘The Lord said to my Lord,

“Sit at my right hand,

43 until I make your enemies your footstool.” ’

40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all. 41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David’s son? 42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

40 And then no one dared to ask him any more questions.

41 Then Jesus presented them with a question. “Why is it,” he asked, “that the Messiah is said to be the son of David? 42 For David himself wrote in the book of Psalms:

‘The Lord said to my Lord,

Sit in the place of honor at my right hand

43 until I humble your enemies,

making them a footstool under your feet.’

40 But after that they dared not question Him anymore.

41 And He said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? 42 Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms:

‘The Lord said to my Lord,

“Sit at My right hand,

43 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ’

40 No one was brave enough to ask him another question.

41 Then Jesus said, “Why do people say that the Christ is the Son of David? 42 In the book of Psalms, David himself says:

‘The Lord said to my Lord,

“Sit by me at my right side,

43 until I put your enemies under your control.” ’

40 For they durst not any more ask him any question.

41 And he said unto them, How say they that the Christ is David’s son?

42 For David himself saith in the book of Psalms,

The Lord said unto my Lord,

Sit thou on my right hand,

43 Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.

40 For they did not dare any more to ask him anything. 41 And he said to them, How do they say that the Christ is David’s son, 42 and David himself says in the book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand 43 until I put thine enemies as footstool of thy feet?

40 From that time on, no one dared to ask him another question. 

41 Jesus said to them, “How can people say that the Messiah is David’s son? 42 David says in the book of Psalms, 

‘The Lord said to my Lord, 

“Take the honored position—the one next to me [God the Father] on the heavenly throne— 

43 until I put your enemies under your control.” ’ 

40 And they no longer dared to ask Him anything.

41 Then He said to them, “How can they say that the Messiah is the Son of David? 42 For David himself says in the Book of Psalms:

The Lord declared to my Lord,

‘Sit at My right hand

43 until I make Your enemies Your footstool.’

40 For they no longer dared to ask him another question.

41 Then he said to them, “How can they say that the Messiah is David’s son? 42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms,

‘The Lord said to my Lord,

“Sit at my right hand

43 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” ’

40 For they no longer dared to ask him anything.

41 But he said to them, “In what sense do they say that the Christ is David’s son? 42 For David himself says in the book of Psalms,

‘The Lord said to my Lord,

“Sit at my right hand,

43 until I make your enemies

a footstool for your feet.” ’
