Job 28:23–27 — The New International Version (NIV)

23 God understands the way to it

and he alone knows where it dwells,

24 for he views the ends of the earth

and sees everything under the heavens.

25 When he established the force of the wind

and measured out the waters,

26 when he made a decree for the rain

and a path for the thunderstorm,

27 then he looked at wisdom and appraised it;

he confirmed it and tested it.

Job 28:23–27 — English Standard Version (ESV)

23 “God understands the way to it,

and he knows its place.

24 For he looks to the ends of the earth

and sees everything under the heavens.

25 When he gave to the wind its weight

and apportioned the waters by measure,

26 when he made a decree for the rain

and a way for the lightning of the thunder,

27 then he saw it and declared it;

he established it, and searched it out.

Job 28:23–27 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

23 God understandeth the way thereof,

And he knoweth the place thereof.

24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth,

And seeth under the whole heaven;

25 To make the weight for the winds;

And he weigheth the waters by measure.

26 When he made a decree for the rain,

And a way for the lightning of the thunder:

27 Then did he see it, and declare it;

He prepared it, yea, and searched it out.

Job 28:23–27 — New Living Translation (NLT)

23 “God alone understands the way to wisdom;

he knows where it can be found,

24 for he looks throughout the whole earth

and sees everything under the heavens.

25 He decided how hard the winds should blow

and how much rain should fall.

26 He made the laws for the rain

and laid out a path for the lightning.

27 Then he saw wisdom and evaluated it.

He set it in place and examined it thoroughly.

Job 28:23–27 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

23 God understands its way,

And He knows its place.

24 For He looks to the ends of the earth,

And sees under the whole heavens,

25 To establish a weight for the wind,

And apportion the waters by measure.

26 When He made a law for the rain,

And a path for the thunderbolt,

27 Then He saw wisdom and declared it;

He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out.

Job 28:23–27 — New Century Version (NCV)

23 Only God understands the way to wisdom,

and he alone knows where it lives,

24 because he looks to the farthest parts of the earth

and sees everything under the sky.

25 When God gave power to the wind

and measured the water,

26 when he made rules for the rain

and set a path for a thunderstorm to follow,

27 then he looked at wisdom and decided its worth;

he set wisdom up and tested it.

Job 28:23–27 — American Standard Version (ASV)

23 God understandeth the way thereof,

And he knoweth the place thereof.

24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth,

And seeth under the whole heaven;

25 To make a weight for the wind:

Yea, he meteth out the waters by measure.

26 When he made a decree for the rain,

And a way for the lightning of the thunder;

27 Then did he see it, and declare it;

He established it, yea, and searched it out.

Job 28:23–27 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

23 God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth its place: 24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth, he seeth under the whole heaven. 25 In making a weight for the wind, and meting out the waters by measure, 26 In appointing a statute for the rain, and a way for the thunder’s flash: 27 Then did he see it, and declare it; he established it, yea, and searched it out;

Job 28:23–27 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

23 “God understands the way to it.

He knows where it lives

24 because he can see to the ends of the earth

and observe everything under heaven.

25 When he gave the wind its force

and measured the water ⸤in the sea⸥,

26 when he made rules for the rain

and set paths for the thunderstorms,

27 then he saw it and announced it.

He confirmed it and examined it.

Job 28:23–27 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

23 But God understands the way to wisdom,

and He knows its location.

24 For He looks to the ends of the earth

and sees everything under the heavens.

25 When God fixed the weight of the wind

and limited the water by measure,

26 when He established a limit for the rain

and a path for the lightning,

27 He considered wisdom and evaluated it;

He established it and examined it.

Job 28:23–27 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

23 “God understands the way to it,

and he knows its place.

24 For he looks to the ends of the earth,

and sees everything under the heavens.

25 When he gave to the wind its weight,

and apportioned out the waters by measure;

26 when he made a decree for the rain,

and a way for the thunderbolt;

27 then he saw it and declared it;

he established it, and searched it out.

Job 28:23–27 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

23 “God understands its way,

and he knows its place,

24 for he himself looks to the end of the earth;

he sees under all the heaven.

25 When he gave weight to the wind

and he apportioned the waters by measure,

26 when he made a rule for the rain

and a way for the thunder’s lightning bolt,

27 then he saw it and talked about it;

he established it, and moreover, he explored it.

Job 28:23–27 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

23 But God understands the way to it.

He’s the only one who knows where it lives.

24 He sees from one end of the earth to the other.

He views everything in the world.

25 He made the mighty wind.

He measured out the waters.

26 He gave orders for the rain to fall.

He made paths for the thunderstorms.

27 Then he looked at wisdom and set its price.

He established it and put it to the test.
