18 In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces, 19 the earrings and bracelets and veils, 20 the headdresses and anklets and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms, 21 the signet rings and nose rings, 22 the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the purses 23 and mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls.

24 Instead of fragrance there will be a stench;

instead of a sash, a rope;

instead of well-dressed hair, baldness;

instead of fine clothing, sackcloth;

instead of beauty, branding.

25 Your men will fall by the sword,

your warriors in battle.

26 The gates of Zion will lament and mourn;

destitute, she will sit on the ground.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; 19 the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves; 20 the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; 21 the signet rings and nose rings; 22 the festal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; 23 the mirrors, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils.

24 Instead of perfume there will be rottenness;

and instead of a belt, a rope;

and instead of well-set hair, baldness;

and instead of a rich robe, a skirt of sackcloth;

and branding instead of beauty.

25 Your men shall fall by the sword

and your mighty men in battle.

26 And her gates shall lament and mourn;

empty, she shall sit on the ground.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet,

And their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands,

And the tablets, and the earrings,

21 The rings, and nose jewels,

22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles,

And the wimples, and the crisping pins,

23 The glasses, and the fine linen,

And the hoods, and the vails.

24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink;

And instead of a girdle a rent;

And instead of well set hair baldness;

And instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth;

And burning instead of beauty.

25 Thy men shall fall by the sword,

And thy mighty in the war.

26 And her gates shall lament and mourn;

And she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

18 On that day of judgment

the Lord will strip away everything that makes her beautiful:

ornaments, headbands, crescent necklaces,

19 earrings, bracelets, and veils;

20 scarves, ankle bracelets, sashes,

perfumes, and charms;

21 rings, jewels,

22 party clothes, gowns, capes, and purses;

23 mirrors, fine linen garments,

head ornaments, and shawls.

24 Instead of smelling of sweet perfume, she will stink.

She will wear a rope for a sash,

and her elegant hair will fall out.

She will wear rough burlap instead of rich robes.

Shame will replace her beauty.

25 The men of the city will be killed with the sword,

and her warriors will die in battle.

26 The gates of Zion will weep and mourn.

The city will be like a ravaged woman,

huddled on the ground.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery:

The jingling anklets, the scarves, and the crescents;

19 The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils;

20 The headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands;

The perfume boxes, the charms,

21 and the rings;

The nose jewels,

22 the festal apparel, and the mantles;

The outer garments, the purses,

23 and the mirrors;

The fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.

24 And so it shall be:

Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench;

Instead of a sash, a rope;

Instead of well-set hair, baldness;

Instead of a rich robe, a girding of sackcloth;

And branding instead of beauty.

25 Your men shall fall by the sword,

And your mighty in the war.

26 Her gates shall lament and mourn,

And she being desolate shall sit on the ground.

18 At that time the Lord will take away everything that makes them proud: their beautiful ankle bracelets, their headbands, their necklaces shaped like the moon, 19 their earrings, bracelets, and veils, 20 their scarves, ankle chains, the cloth belts worn around their waists, their bottles of perfume, and charms, 21 their signet rings, nose rings, 22 their fine robes, capes, shawls, and purses, 23 their mirrors, linen dresses, turbans, and long shawls.

24 Instead of wearing sweet-smelling perfume, they will stink.

Instead of fine cloth belts, they will wear the ropes of captives.

Instead of having their hair fixed in fancy ways, they will be bald.

Instead of fine clothes, they will wear clothes of sadness.

Instead of being beautiful, they will wear the brand of a captive.

25 At that time your men will be killed with swords,

and your heroes will die in war.

26 There will be crying and sadness near the city gates.

Jerusalem will be like a woman who has lost everything and sits on the ground.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents; 19 the pendants, and the bracelets, and the mufflers; 20 the headtires, and the ankle chains, and the sashes, and the perfume-boxes, and the amulets; 21 the rings, and the nose-jewels; 22 the festival robes, and the mantles, and the shawls, and the satchels; 23 the hand-mirrors, and the fine linen, and the turbans, and the veils. 24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet spices there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth; branding instead of beauty. 25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war. 26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate and sit upon the ground.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the ornament of anklets, and the little suns and crescents, 19 the pearl-drops, and the bracelets, and the veils, 20 the head-dresses, and the stepping chains, and the girdles, and the scent-boxes, and the amulets; 21 the finger-rings, and the nose-rings; 22 the festival-robes, and the tunics, and the mantles, and the wallets; 23 the mirrors, and the fine linen bodices, and the turbans, and the flowing veils. 24 And it shall come to pass, instead of perfume there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe of display, a girding of sackcloth; brand instead of beauty. 25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the fight; 26 and her gates shall lament and mourn; and, stripped, she shall sit upon the ground.

18 On that day the Lord will take away their fine things: jingling anklets, headbands, crescent-shaped necklaces, 19 pendants, bracelets, scarfs, 20 hats, ankle bracelets, blouses, perfume boxes, charms, 21 signet rings, nose rings, 22 fine robes, coats, shawls, purses, 23 mirrors, underwear, headdresses, and veils. 

24 Instead of the smell of perfume, there will be the smell of decay. 

They will wear ropes instead of belts. 

They will have bald heads instead of beautiful hair. 

They will wear sackcloth instead of expensive clothes. 

Their beauty will be scarred.

25 ⸤Women,⸥ your warriors will die in combat. 

Your mighty men will die in battle. 

26 The gates of Zion will cry and grieve, 

and Zion will sit on the ground, exhausted.

24 Instead of perfume there will be a stench;

and instead of well-set hair, baldness;

and instead of a rich robe, a binding of sackcloth;

instead of beauty, shame.

25 Your men shall fall by the sword

and your warriors in battle.

26 And her gates shall lament and mourn;

ravaged, she shall sit upon the ground.

18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets

and the headbands and the crescent necklaces,

19 the pendants and the bracelets and the veils,

20 the headdresses and the armlets and the sashes,

and the perfume boxes and the amulets,

21 the signet rings and the nose rings,

22 the festal robes and the mantles,

and the cloaks and the handbags,

23 and the mirrors and the linen garments,

and the turbans and the wraps.

24 And this shall happen: There will be

a stench instead of perfume,

and a rope instead of a sash,

and baldness instead of a well-set hairdo,

and a clothing wrap of sackcloth instead of a rich robe,

branding instead of beauty.

25 Your men shall fall by the sword,

and your warriors in battle.

26 And her gates shall lament and mourn,

and she shall be banished;

she shall sit upon the ground.

18 At that time the Lord will take away the beautiful things they wear. He will take away their decorations, headbands and moon-shaped necklaces. 19 He’ll take away their earrings, bracelets and veils. 20 He’ll remove their headdresses, ankle chains and belts. He’ll take away their perfume bottles and charms. 21 He’ll remove the rings they wear on their fingers and in their noses. 22 He’ll take away their fine robes and their capes and coats. He’ll take away their purses 23 and mirrors. And he’ll take away their linen clothes, turbans and shawls.

24 Instead of smelling sweet,

the women will smell bad.

Instead of wearing belts,

they will wear ropes.

Instead of having beautiful hair,

they won’t have any hair at all.

Instead of wearing fine clothes,

they’ll wear black clothes to show how sad they are.

Instead of being beautiful,

they’ll have the brands of slaves on their bodies.

25 Jerusalem, your men will be killed with swords.

Your soldiers will die in battle.

26 The city of Zion will be very sad.

Like a widow, she will lose everything.

She will sit on the ground and sob.
