Hosea 2:6–8 — The New International Version (NIV)

Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes;

I will wall her in so that she cannot find her way.

She will chase after her lovers but not catch them;

she will look for them but not find them.

Then she will say,

‘I will go back to my husband as at first,

for then I was better off than now.’

She has not acknowledged that I was the one

who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil,

who lavished on her the silver and gold—

which they used for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Therefore I will hedge up her way with thorns,

and I will build a wall against her,

so that she cannot find her paths.

She shall pursue her lovers

but not overtake them,

and she shall seek them

but shall not find them.

Then she shall say,

‘I will go and return to my first husband,

for it was better for me then than now.’

And she did not know

that it was I who gave her

the grain, the wine, and the oil,

and who lavished on her silver and gold,

which they used for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns,

And make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them;

And she shall seek them, but shall not find them:

Then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband;

For then was it better with me than now.

For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil,

And multiplied her silver and gold,

Which they prepared for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“For this reason I will fence her in with thornbushes.

I will block her path with a wall

to make her lose her way.

When she runs after her lovers,

she won’t be able to catch them.

She will search for them

but not find them.

Then she will think,

‘I might as well return to my husband,

for I was better off with him than I am now.’

She doesn’t realize it was I who gave her everything she has—

the grain, the new wine, the olive oil;

I even gave her silver and gold.

But she gave all my gifts to Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“Therefore, behold,

I will hedge up your way with thorns,

And wall her in,

So that she cannot find her paths.

She will chase her lovers,

But not overtake them;

Yes, she will seek them, but not find them.

Then she will say,

‘I will go and return to my first husband,

For then it was better for me than now.’

For she did not know

That I gave her grain, new wine, and oil,

And multiplied her silver and gold—

Which they prepared for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — New Century Version (NCV)

So I will block her road with thornbushes;

I will build a wall around her

so she cannot find her way.

She will run after her lovers,

but she won’t catch them.

She will look for them,

but she won’t find them.

Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my first husband,

because life was better then for me than it is now.’

But she does not know that I was the one

who gave her grain, new wine, and oil.

I gave her much silver and gold,

but she used it for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she shall not find her paths. And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

For she did not know that I gave her the grain, and the new wine, and the oil, and multiplied unto her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Therefore behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns; and I will fence her in with a wall, that she shall not find her paths. And she shall pursue after her lovers, and shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, and shall not find them: and she shall say, I will go and return to my first husband, for then was it better with me than now. And she did not know that I had given her the corn and the new wine and the oil, and had multiplied to her the silver and gold, which they employed for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

“That is why I will block her way with thornbushes

and build a wall so that she can’t get through.

She will run after her lovers, but she won’t catch them.

She will search for them, but she won’t find them.

Then she will say, ‘I’ll go back to my first husband.

Things were better for me than they are now.’

“She doesn’t believe that I gave her grain, new wine, and olive oil.

I gave her plenty of silver and gold,

but she used it to make statues of Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Therefore, this is what I will do:

I will block her way with thorns;

I will enclose her with a wall,

so that she cannot find her paths.

She will pursue her lovers but not catch them;

she will seek them but not find them.

Then she will think,

“I will go back to my former husband,

for then it was better for me than now.”

She does not recognize

that it is I who gave her the grain,

the new wine, and the oil.

I lavished silver and gold on her,

which they used for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Therefore I will hedge up her way with thorns;

and I will build a wall against her,

so that she cannot find her paths.

She shall pursue her lovers,

but not overtake them;

and she shall seek them,

but shall not find them.

Then she shall say, “I will go

and return to my first husband,

for it was better with me then than now.”

She did not know

that it was I who gave her

the grain, the wine, and the oil,

and who lavished upon her silver

and gold that they used for Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Therefore, Look!

I am going to hedge her path with thorns,

and I will build a stone wall, a stone wall against her,

and she will not find her paths.

Then she will pursue her lovers,

but she will not overtake them;

she will seek them and not find them;

and she will say, “I will go

and return to my first husband

because it was better for me then than now.”

But she did not know

that it was I who gave her

grain, new wine, and oil,

and who gave her silver in abundance,

and gold which they made into a Baal.

Hosea 2:6–8 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

So I will block her path with bushes that have thorns.

I’ll build a wall around her.

Then she can’t go to her lovers.

She will still chase after her lovers.

But she won’t catch them.

She’ll look for them.

But she won’t find them.

Then she’ll say,

“I’ll go back to my husband.

That’s where I was at first.

I was better off then than I am now.”

She wouldn’t admit that I was the one

who gave her everything she had.

I provided her with grain, olive oil and fresh wine.

I gave her plenty of silver and gold.

But she used it to make statues of Baal.
