31 You have gone the way of your sister; so I will put her cup into your hand.

32 “This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“You will drink your sister’s cup,

a cup large and deep;

it will bring scorn and derision,

for it holds so much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow,

the cup of ruin and desolation,

the cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You will drink it and drain it dry

and chew on its pieces—

and you will tear your breasts.

I have spoken, declares the Sovereign Lord.

35 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Since you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, you must bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution.”

31 You have gone the way of your sister; therefore I will give her cup into your hand. 32 Thus says the Lord God:

“You shall drink your sister’s cup

that is deep and large;

you shall be laughed at and held in derision,

for it contains much;

33 you will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow.

A cup of horror and desolation,

the cup of your sister Samaria;

34 you shall drink it and drain it out,

and gnaw its shards,

and tear your breasts;

for I have spoken, declares the Lord God. 35 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, you yourself must bear the consequences of your lewdness and whoring.”

31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand. 32 Thus saith the Lord God; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much. 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria. 34 Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God. 35 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

31 Because you have followed in your sister’s footsteps, I will force you to drink the same cup of terror she drank.

32 “Yes, this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“You will drink from your sister’s cup of terror,

a cup that is large and deep.

It is filled to the brim

with scorn and derision.

33 Drunkenness and anguish will fill you,

for your cup is filled to the brim with distress and desolation,

the same cup your sister Samaria drank.

34 You will drain that cup of terror

to the very bottom.

Then you will smash it to pieces

and beat your breast in anguish.

I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!

35 “And because you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: You must bear the consequences of all your lewdness and prostitution.”

31 You have walked in the way of your sister; therefore I will put her cup in your hand.’

32 “Thus says the Lord God:

‘You shall drink of your sister’s cup,

The deep and wide one;

You shall be laughed to scorn

And held in derision;

It contains much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow,

The cup of horror and desolation,

The cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You shall drink and drain it,

You shall break its shards,

And tear at your own breasts;

For I have spoken,’

Says the Lord God.

35 “Therefore thus says the Lord God:

‘Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back,

Therefore you shall bear the penalty

Of your lewdness and your harlotry.’ ”

31 You did the same things your sister did, so you will get the same punishment, like a bitter cup to drink.

32 “This is what the Lord God says:

You will drink the same cup your sister did,

and that cup is deep and wide.

Everyone will make fun of you,

because the cup is full.

33 It will make you miserable and drunk.

It is the cup of fear and ruin.

It is the cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You will drink everything in it,

and then you will smash it

and tear at your breasts.

I have spoken, says the Lord God.

35 “So this is what the Lord God says: You have forgotten me and turned your back on me. So you will be punished for your sexual sins.”

31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; and I have given her cup into thy hand. 32 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large; thou shalt be for a laughing-stock and a derision, for it containeth much. 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, the cup of thy sister Samaria; 34 thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt gnaw the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord Jehovah. 35 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy fornications.

31 You’ve acted the same way as your sister. That is why I will put her cup in your hand. 32 This is what the Almighty Lord says: 

You will drink from your sister’s cup, 

a cup that is deep and wide. 

You will be scorned and mocked, 

because this cup holds so much. 

33 The cup of your sister Samaria will be filled 

with drunkenness and sorrow. 

34 You will drink from it and drain it. 

You will break it into pieces 

and tear your breasts off your body. 

I have spoken, declares the Almighty Lord. 

35 “This is what the Almighty Lord says: You have forgotten me and turned your back on me. So you will be punished for your sinning and prostitution.” 

31 You have followed the path of your sister, so I will put her cup in your hand.”

32 This is what the Lord God says:

You will drink your sister’s cup,

which is deep and wide.

You will be an object of ridicule and scorn,

for it holds so much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and grief,

with a cup of devastation and desolation,

the cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You will drink it and drain it;

then you will gnaw its broken pieces,

and tear your breasts.

For I have spoken.

This is the declaration of the Lord God.

35 Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: “Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, you must bear the consequences of your indecency and promiscuity.”

31 You have gone the way of your sister; therefore I will give her cup into your hand. 32 Thus says the Lord God:

You shall drink your sister’s cup,

deep and wide;

you shall be scorned and derided,

it holds so much.

33 You shall be filled with drunkenness and sorrow.

A cup of horror and desolation

is the cup of your sister Samaria;

34 you shall drink it and drain it out,

and gnaw its sherds,

and tear out your breasts;

for I have spoken, says the Lord God. 35 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, therefore bear the consequences of your lewdness and whorings.

31 You went in the same way of your sister, and I will give her cup into your hand.” ’

32 Thus says the Lord Yahweh: “You will drink the deep and wide cup of your sister; you will be as laughter and as scorn; the cup holds so much! 33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, for a cup of horror and desolation is the cup of your sister, Samaria. 34 And you will drink it, and you will drain it, and its potsherds you will gnaw, and you will tear out your breasts, for I myself spoke,” declares the Lord Yahweh. 35 Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: “Because you have forgotten me, and you threw me behind your back, now in turn you bear your obscene conduct and your whorings.”

31 You did the same things your sister Oholah did. So I will put her cup in your hand. It is filled with the wine of my anger.”

32 The Lord and King says to Oholibah,

“You will drink from your sister’s cup.

It is large and deep.

It is filled with the wine of my anger.

So others will laugh at you.

They will make fun of you.

33 You will become drunk and sad.

The cup of my anger will completely destroy you.

It is the same cup your sister Samaria drank from.

34 You will drink from it until it is empty.

Then you will throw it down and break it in pieces.

And you will claw at your breasts.

I have spoken,” announces the Lord and King.

35 So the Lord and King says, “You have forgotten me. You have pushed me behind your back. You have been impure. You have acted like a prostitute. So I will punish you.”
