2 Samuel 2:4–5

4 Then the men of Judah came and there aanointed David king over the house of Judah.

And they told David, saying, “It was bthe men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul.”

5 David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, “aMay you be blessed of the Lord because you have 1shown this kindness to Saul your lord, and have buried him.

Then the men of Judah came to Hebron, and there they anointed David king over the tribe of Judah.

When David was told that it was the men from Jabesh Gilead who had buried Saul, he sent messengers to them to say to them, “The Lord bless you for showing this kindness to Saul your master by burying him.
