Laws for Burnt Offerings

1 Thena Yahweh called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of assembly, saying, “Speak to the Israelites,b and say to them, ‘When a personc from you presents an offering to Yahweh, you shall present your offering from domestic animals, from the cattled or from the flock.e If his offering is a burnt offering from the cattle,f then he must presentg an unblemished male; he must present it at the door of the tent of assembly for his acceptance beforeh Yahweh.

“ ‘Hei must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering and it will be acceptedj for him in order to make atonement for him. Hek must slaughter the young bulll beforem Yahweh, thenn Aaron’s sons, the priests, will present the blood and sprinkle the blood all around the altar that is at the door of the tent of assembly. Theno he must remove the skin of the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. The sons ofp Aaron the priest will put fire on the altar and arrange the wood on the fire. Thenq Aaron’s sons, the priests, will arrange the pieces of meat,r the head, and the suet on the wood that is on the fire that is on the altar. Thens he must wash its inner partst and its lower leg bones with water, and the priest will turn into smoke the whole animal on the altar as a burnt offering by fire, as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh.

10 “ ‘But if his offering is from the flock,u from the sheep or from the goats for a burnt offering, he must presentv an unblemishedw male. 11 Hex must slaughter it on the north side of the altar beforey Yahweh; thenz Aaron’s sons, the priests, will sprinkle its blood all around the altar. 12 Thena he must cut it into pieces along with its head and its suet; and the priest will arrange them on the wood that is on the fire that is on the altar. 13 Thenb he must wash the inner partsc and the lower leg bones with water and the priest shall present the whole animal and will turn itd into smoke on the altar; it is a burnt offering by fire as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh.

14 “ ‘But if his offering for Yahweh is a burnt offering from the birds, then he must present his offering from the turtledoves or from the young doves.e 15 The priestf will present it at the altar and must wring off its head and turn it into smoke on the altar, and its blood will be drained out on the wallg of the altar. 16 Heh must remove its crop with its plumage and throw it to the east beside the altar on the place of the fatty ashes. 17 Theni he must tear it apart by its wings but must not sever it; thenj the priest will turn it into smoke on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering by fire as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh.’ ”

Laws for Grain Offerings

2 “ ‘When a persona brings a grain offering to Yahweh, his offering must be finely milled flour, and he must pour out oil on it and place frankincense on it. And he shall bring it to the sons of Aaron, the priests, and heb shall take his handful from its finely milled flourc and from its oil in addition to all its frankincense. The priestd shall turn its token portion into smoke on the altar as an offering made by fire, as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh. The remaindere of the grain offering belongs tof Aaron and to his sons—it is a most holy thingg from the offerings made by fire forh Yahweh.

“ ‘But if you bring a grain offering of something oven-baked, it must be of finely milled flour as ring-shaped unleavened bread mixed with oil or wafers of unleavened bread smeared with oil. If your offering is a grain offering baked on ai flat baking pan, it must be finely milled flour, unleavened bread mixed with oil; break it into pieces and pour out oil on it; it is a grain offering.

“ ‘Ifj your offering is a grain offering prepared in a cooking pan, it must be with finely milled flour in oil. And you shall bring the grain offering that is made from these things to Yahweh, and the offererk shall bring it to the priest, and he shall bring it to the altar. And the priest shall take away from the grain offering its token portion, and he shall turn it into smoke on the altar as an offering made by fire, as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh. 10 And the remainder of the grain offering belongs tol Aaron and to his sons—it is a most holy thingm from the offerings made by fire forn Yahweh.

11 “ ‘Every grain offering youo bring to Yahweh must not be made of yeasted food, because you must not turn into smoke any yeast or any honey fromp an offering made by fire for Yahweh. 12 As an offering of the choicest portion, youq may bring them to Yahweh, but they must not be offered on the altar as an appeasing fragrance. 13 Also allr of your grain offerings you must season with salt; yous must not omit the salt of your God’s covenant from your offering. With all your offerings you shall present salt.

14 “ ‘And if you bring to Yahweh a grain offering of firstfruits, you must bring an ear of new grain roasted by fire, coarsely crushed ripe grain, as the grain offering of your firstfruits. 15 And you shall put oil on it and place frankincense on it; it is a grain offering. 16 Thet priest shall turn into smoke its token portion from its coarsely crushed grain and from its oil together with all of its frankincense—it is an offering made by fire for Yahweh.’ ”

Laws for Fellowship Offerings

3 “ ‘Now ifa his offering is a sacrifice of fellowship offering, if he brings it from the cattle,b whether male or female, he must bring it without defect before Yahweh. Hec must lay his hand on the head of his offering and slaughter it at the entrance of the tent of assembly, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood on the altar all around. He shall presentd from the sacrifice of the fellowship offering an offering made by fire for Yahweh consisting ofe the fat covering the inner partsf and all the fat that is on the inner parts,g the two kidneys,h and the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and he must remove the lobe on the liver in addition to the kidneys. Aaron’s sons shall turn it to smoke on the altar in addition to the burnt offering that is on the wood, which is on the fire; it is an offering made by fire as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh.

“ ‘But if his offering for a sacrifice of fellowship offering for Yahweh is from the flock,i he must bring a male or a female without defect. If he brings a sheep as his offering, thenj he shall present it before Yahweh, and he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and he shall slaughter it before the tent of assembly, and Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle its blood on the altar all around. He shall presentk from the sacrifice of the fellowship offering an offering made by fire for Yahweh: he must remove its fat, the entire fat tail near the tailbone, and the fat covering the inner partsl and all the fat that is on the inner parts,m 10 the two kidneys,n and the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and he must remove the lobe on the liver in addition to the kidneys. 11 The priesto shall turn it into smoke on the altar as a food offering made by fire for Yahweh.

12 “ ‘Andp if his offering is a goat, thenq he shall bring it before Yahweh, 13 and he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and he shall slaughter it before the tent of assembly, and Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle its blood on the altar all around. 14 He shall presentr his offering from it as an offering made by fire for Yahweh: the fat covering the inner partss and all the fat that is on the inner parts,t 15 the two kidneys,u and the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and he must remove the lobe on the liver in addition to the kidneys. 16 The priestv shall turn them into smoke on the altar as a food offering;w all the fat is an offering made by fire as an appeasing fragrance for Yahweh. 17 This isx a lasting statute for your generations in all your dwellings: you must not eat any fat or any blood.’ ”

Laws for Sin Offerings

4 Thena Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the Israelites,b saying, ‘If a personc sins by an unintentional wrong from any of Yahweh’s commands that should not be violated,d and he violatese any of themfif the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people,g then,h concerning the sin that he has committed,i he shall bring a young bullj without defect for Yahweh as a sin offering. He shall bringk the bull to the tent of assembly’s entrance before Yahweh, placel his hand on the bull’s head, and slaughter the bull before Yahweh. The anointed priestm shall take some ofn the bull’s blood and shall bring it to the tent of assembly, and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and shall spatter some ofo the blood seven times before Yahweh in front of the sanctuary’s curtain. The priestp shall put some ofq the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before Yahweh, which is in the tent of assembly, and all the restr of the bull’s blood he must pour out on the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the tent of assembly.

“ ‘He must removes all the fat from the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the inner partst and all of the fat that is on the inner parts,u the twov kidneys and the fat that is on them, which is at the loins, and the liver’s lobe that he must remove in addition to the kidneys— 10 just as it is removed from the ox of the fellowship offerings’ sacrifice—and the priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar of the burnt offering. 11 Butw the bull’s skin and its meat, in addition to its head, its lower leg bones,x itsy inner parts,z and its offal— 12 he shall carrya all of the bull outside the campb to a ceremonially clean place, to the fatty ashes’ dump, and he shall burn it on wood in the fire; it must be burned up on the fatty ashes’ dump.
