Genesis 46:32–34

32 And the men are shepherds,d for they are men of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their cattle and all that they have.’ 33 And it shall be that when Pharaoh calls you he will say, ‘What is your occupation?’ 34 Then you must say, ‘Your servants are men of livestock from our childhood until now, both we and also our ancestors,’e so that you may dwell in the land of Goshen, for every shepherdf is a detestable thing to Egyptians.”

Genesis 46:32–34 — The New International Version (NIV)

32 The men are shepherds; they tend livestock, and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.’ 33 When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’ 34 you should answer, ‘Your servants have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.’ Then you will be allowed to settle in the region of Goshen, for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.”
