Psalm 106

1  †Praise ye the Lord.

aO give thanks unto the Lord; bfor he is good:

cFor his mercy endureth for ever.

2  Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord?

Who can shew forth all his praise?

3  Blessed are they that keep judgment,

And he that edoeth righteousness fat all times.

4  gRemember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people:

O visit me with thy salvation;

5  That I may see the good of hthy chosen,

That I may rejoice in the gladness of ithy nation,

That I may glory with thine inheritance.

6  We have ksinned lwith our fathers,

kmWe have committed iniquity, knwe have done wickedly.

7  Our fathers ounderstood not thy wonders in Egypt;

They premembered not the multitude of thy mercies;

But qprovoked him at the sea, even at rthe Red sea.

8  Nevertheless he saved them sfor his name’s sake,

That he tmight make his mighty power to be known.

9  uHe wrebuked the Red sea also, and it was xdried up:

So yhe led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

10  And zhe saved them from the hand of him that hated them,

And aredeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11  And bthe waters covered their enemies:

cThere was not one of them left.

12  Then dbelieved they his words;

They dsang his praise.

13  e†They soon forgat his works;

They fwaited not for his counsel:

14  gBut †lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,

And htempted God in ithe desert.

15  And jhe gave them their request;

But sent kleanness into their soul.

16  lThey envied Moses also in the camp,

And mAaron the saint of the Lord.

17  nThe earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,

And ocovered nthe company of Abiram.

18  And pa fire was kindled in their company;

qThe flame burned up rthe wicked.

19  sThey made a calf tin Horeb,

And worshipped the molten image.

20  Thus uthey changed their glory

Into xthe similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

21  They yforgat God their saviour,

Which had done zgreat things in Egypt;

22  Wondrous works in the land aof Ham,

And zterrible things by bthe Red sea.

23  cTherefore dhe said that he would destroy them,

Had not Moses ehis chosen stood before him fin the breach,

To turn away his wrath, glest he should destroy them.

24  Yea, hthey despised †the pleasant land,

They ibelieved not his word:

25  kBut lmurmured in their tents,

And hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

26  Therefore mhe lifted up his hand against them,

†To overthrow them in the wilderness:

27  †To overthrow their seed also among the nations,

And to nscatter them in the lands.

28  They ojoined themselves also unto pBaal-peor,

And qate the sacrifices of rthe dead.

29  Thus they provoked him to anger with stheir inventions:

And the plague brake in upon them.

30  Then tstood up Phinehas, and uexecuted judgment:

And so tthe plague was stayed.

31  And wthat was counted unto him for righteousness

Unto all generations for evermore.

32  xThey yangered him also at the waters of strife,

zSo that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

33  Because they aprovoked his spirit,

bSo that he cspake unadvisedly with his lips.

34  dThey did not destroy the nations,

Concerning whom ethe Lord commanded them:

35  fBut were mingled among the heathen,

And learned their works.

36  And gthey served their idols:

hWhich were a snare unto them.

37  Yea, ithey sacrificed their sons

And their daughters unto kdevils,

38  And shed innocent blood,

Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,

iWhom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan:

And lthe land was polluted with blood.

39  Thus were they mdefiled with their own works,

And mnwent a whoring with otheir own inventions.

40  Therefore pwas the wrath of the Lord kindled against qhis people,

Insomuch that he abhorred qhis own inheritance.

41  And phe gave them into rthe hand of the heathen;

And they that hated them ruled over them.

42  Their enemies also soppressed them,

And they were tbrought into subjection under their hand.

43  uMany times did he deliver them;

But they aprovoked him wwith their counsel,

And were ||brought low for their iniquity.

44  Nevertheless he regarded xtheir affliction,

When yhe heard their zcry:

45  And he aremembered for them his covenant,

And brepented caccording to the multitude of his mercies.

46  dHe made them also eto be pitied

Of all those that carried them captives.

47  fSave us, O Lord our God,

And ggather us from among the heathen,

To give thanks unto thy holy name,

And to triumph in thy praise.

48  hBlessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting:

And let iall the people say, kAmen.
