Psalm 135–150
1 aPraise ye the Lord.
bPraise ye the name of the Lord;
Praise him, O ye bcservants of the Lord.
2 Ye that cstand in the house of the Lord,
In the dcourts of the house of our God,
3 Praise the Lord; for ethe Lord is good:
Sing praises unto his name; ffor it is pleasant.
4 For the gLord hhath chosen Jacob unto himself,
And Israel for his ipeculiar treasure.
5 For I know that kthe Lord is great,
And that our Lord is above all gods.
6 lWhatsoever the Lord pleased,
That did he in heaven, and in earth,
In the seas, and all deep places.
7 mHe ncauseth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth;
moHe maketh lightnings ofor the rain;
mHe bringeth the wind out of his ptreasuries.
8 qWho smote the firstborn of Egypt,
†Both of man and beast.
9 Who sent rtokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt,
Upon sPharaoh, and upon all his servants.
10 tWho smote great nations,
And slew mighty kings;
11 uSihon king of the Amorites,
And xOg king of Bashan,
And yall the kingdoms of Canaan:
12 And zgave their land for an heritage,
An heritage unto Israel his people.
13 aThy name, O Lord, endureth for ever;
And abthy memorial, O Lord, †throughout all generations.
14 cFor the Lord will judge his people,
And cdhe will repent himself concerning his servants.
15 eThe idols of the heathen are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
16 They have mouths, but they speak not;
Eyes have they, but they see not;
17 They have ears, but they hear not;
fNeither is there any breath in their mouths.
18 They that make them are like unto them:
So is every one that trusteth in them.
19 Bless the Lord, gO house of Israel:
Bless the Lord, gO house of Aaron:
20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi:
hYe that fear the Lord, bless the Lord.
21 Blessed be the Lord iout of Zion, kwhich dwelleth at Jerusalem.
lPraise ye the Lord.
1 aO give thanks unto the Lord; bfor he is good:
cFor his mercy endureth for ever.
2 O give thanks unto dthe God of gods:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
3 O give thanks to dthe Lord of lords:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
4 To him who ealone doeth great wonders:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
5 To him that fby wisdom gmade the heavens:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
6 To him that hstretched out the earth iabove the waters:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
7 To him that made kgreat lights:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
9 lThe moon and stars to rule by night:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
10 To him that msmote Egypt in their firstborn:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
11 And nbrought out Israel from among them:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
12 oWith a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
13 To him which pdivided qthe Red sea into rparts:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
14 qAnd made Israel to pass through the midst of it:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
15 sBut †overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
16 To him twhich led his people through the wilderness:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
17 To him uwhich smote great kings:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
19 Sihon king of the Amorites:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
21 And gave their land for an heritage:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
22 Even an heritage unto Israel vhis servant:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
23 Who wremembered us in our xlow estate:
For his mercy endureth for ever:
24 And hath yredeemed us from our enemies:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
25 Who zgiveth food to all flesh:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
26 aO give thanks unto the God of heaven:
For his mercy endureth for ever.
1 *By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept,
When we remembered Zion.
Upon the awillows in the midst thereof.
3 For there they that carried us away captive required of us †a song;
And they that †wasted us required of us mirth,
Saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
4 bHow shall we sing the Lord’s song
In a †strange land?
5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem,
bbLet my right hand forget her cunning.
Let my ctongue cleave to the roof of my mouth;
If I prefer not Jerusalem above †my chief joy.
7 Remember, O Lord, dthe children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem;
Who said, †Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.
8 O daughter of Babylon, ewho art to be †destroyed;
Happy shall he be, †gthat hrewardeth thee
As thou hast served us.
9 Happy shall he be, that taketh
And idasheth thy little ones against †the stones.
1 I will praise thee with my whole heart:
aBefore the gods will I sing praise unto thee.
2 I will worship btoward cthy holy temple,
And praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth:
For thou hast dmagnified ethy word above all thy name.
3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me,
And fstrengthenedst me with strength in my soul.
4 gAll the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord,
When they hear the words of thy mouth.
5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord:
For great is the glory of the Lord.
6 hThough the Lord be high, yet hihath he respect unto the lowly:
But ithe proud he knoweth afar off.
7 kThough I walk in the midst of trouble, lthou wilt revive me:
Thou shalt mstretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies,
And thy right hand shall save me.
8 The Lord will nperfect that which concerneth me:
oThy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever:
Forsake not pthe works of thine own hands.
*To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 O Lord, athou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest bcmy downsitting and cdmine uprising,
eThou understandest my fthought afar off.
3 eThou ||compassest my path and my lying down,
And art gacquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue,
But, lo, O Lord, hthou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast ibeset me behind and before,
And klaid thine hand upon me.
6 Such lknowledge is mtoo wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 nWhither shall I go from thy spirit?
Or whither oshall I flee from thy presence?
8 pIf I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:
qIf I rmake my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take sthe wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand tlead me,
And thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, uSurely the darkness shall cover me;
Even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, uthe darkness †hideth not from thee;
But the night shineth as the day:
†The darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast vpossessed my reins:
Thou hast wcovered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
xMarvellous are thy works;
And that my soul knoweth †right well.
15 yMy ||substance was not hid from thee,
When I was made in secret,
And zcuriously wrought in athe lowest parts of the earth.
16 yThine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect;
And in thy book †all my members were written,
||Which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 bHow precious also are cthy thoughts unto me, O God!
How great is dthe sum of them!
18 If I eshould count them, they are more in number than fthe sand:
When I awake, I am still with thee.
19 gSurely thou wilt hslay the wicked, O God:
iDepart from me therefore, kye bloody men.
20 For they lspeak against thee wickedly,
And thine menemies take nthy name in vain.
21 oDo not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee?
And am not I pgrieved with qthose that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred:
I count them mine enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart:
rTry me, and know my sthoughts:
24 And see if there be any †wicked tway in me,
And ulead me in the tway xeverlasting.
*To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 aDeliver me, O Lord, bfrom the evil man:
bPreserve me from the †violent man;
2 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart;
Continually are they cgathered together for war.
3 dThey have sharpened their tongues like ea serpent;
fAdders’ epoison is gunder their lips. Selah.
4 Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
bPreserve me from the violent man;
Who have purposed to hoverthrow my goings.
5 The proud have ihid ka snare for me, and lcords;
They have spread a mnet by the wayside;
They have set ngins for me. Selah.
6 I nnsaid unto the Lord, Thou art my God:
Hear othe voice of my supplications, O Lord.
7 O God the Lord, pthe strength of my salvation,
Thou hast qcovered my head in the day of rbattle.
8 Grant not, O Lord, sthe desires of the wicked:
Further not his wicked device;
||tLest they exalt themselves. Selah.
9 As for the head of those that compass me about,
uLet the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Let burning coals wfall upon them:
Let them be cast into the fire;
Into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
11 Let not †||an evil speaker be established in the earth:
Evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 I know that the Lord will xmaintain the cause of the afflicted,
13 Surely zthe righteous shall give thanks unto thy name:
The upright shall dwell in thy presence.
1 Lord, I cry unto thee: aMake haste unto me;
Give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
2 Let bmy prayer be †set forth before thee as bincense;
And cthe lifting up of my hands as dthe evening sacrifice.
3 Set ea watch, O Lord, before my mouth;
eKeep the door of my lips.
4 fIncline not my heart to any evil thing,
To practise wicked works with men that gwork iniquity:
And hlet me not eat of their dainties.
5 i||Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness:
And let him reprove me; it shall be an kexcellent oil,
Which shall not break my head:
For yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
6 When ltheir judges are overthrown in stony places,
lThey shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
7 mOur bones are scattered nat the grave’s mouth,
As when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.
8 But omine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord:
pIn thee is my…
