Psalm 11:1–17:5
1 aIn the Lord put I my trust:
bHow say ye to my soul,
Flee as a bird to your mountain?
2 For, lo, cthe wicked bend their bow,
dThey make ready their arrow upon the string,
That they may †privily shoot at ethe upright in heart.
3 If fthe foundations be destroyed,
What gcan the righteous do?
4 hThe Lord is in ihis holy temple,
kThe Lord’s throne is in heaven:
lHis eyes behold,
His eyelids try, the children of men.
5 The Lord mtrieth the righteous:
But the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
6 Upon the wicked he shall rain ||snares, fire and nbrimstone,
And ||an ohorrible tempest: this shall be pthe portion of their cup.
7 For the righteous Lord qloveth righteousness;
rHis countenance doth behold the upright.
To the chief Musician ||*upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.
1 ||Help, Lord; for athe godly man ceaseth;
For the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2 They aaspeak vanity every one with his neighbour:
With bflattering lips and with †a double heart do they speak.
3 The Lord shall cut off all bflattering lips,
And the tongue that speaketh †proud things:
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail;
Our lips †are our own: who is lord over us?
5 cFor the oppression of dthe poor, for the sighing of the needy,
eNow will I arise, saith the Lord;
I will set him in safety from him that ||fpuffeth at him.
6 gThe words of the Lord are pure words:
As silver gtried in a furnace of earth, hpurified iseven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord,
Thou shalt preserve †them from this generation for ever.
8 The wicked walk on every side,
When †the vilest men are exalted.
To the ||chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 aHow long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? afor ever?
How long wilt thou aahide thy face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart daily?
How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God:
bLighten mine eyes, clest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 dLest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him;
And those that trouble me rejoice when eI am moved.
5 But I have ftrusted in thy mercy;
fgMy heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath hdealt bountifully with me.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
1 aThe bfool hath said in his heart, cThere is no God.
dThey are corrupt, they have done abominable works,
eThere is none that doeth good.
2 The Lord flooked down from heaven upon the children of men,
To see if there were eany gthat did understand, and hseek God.
3 eThey are all gone aside, they are all together become †filthy:
There is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4 Have all the workers of iniquity ino knowledge?
Who keat up my people as they eat bread,
And lcall not upon the Lord.
5 mThere †were they in great fear:
nFor God is in the generation of the righteous.
6 nYe have shamed the counsel of the poor,
Because the Lord is his orefuge.
7 †Oh that the salvation of Israel were come pout of Zion!
When the Lord qbringeth back the captivity of his people,
Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
1 Lord, aWho shall †abide in thy tabernacle?
Who shall dwell in bthy holy hill?
2 cHe that walketh uprightly, and ccworketh righteousness,
And dspeaketh the truth in his heart.
3 eHe that fbackbiteth not with his tongue,
Nor doeth evil to his neighbour,
Nor ||taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned;
But he honoureth them that fear the Lord.
He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
5 He that putteth not out his money to gusury,
hNor taketh reward against the innocent.
He that doeth these things ishall never be moved.
||Michtam of David.
1 Preserve me, O God: afor in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord:
bMy goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth,
And to the excellent, cin whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that ||hasten after ccanother god:
Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer,
dNor etake up their names into my lips.
5 The Lord is fthe portion †of mine ginheritance and of my hcup:
Thou maintainest my ilot.
6 The ilines are fallen unto me in jpleasant places;
Yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel:
My kreins also instruct me lin the night seasons.
8 mI have nset the Lord always before me:
Because ohe is at my right hand, pI shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and qmy glory rejoiceth:
My flesh also shall †rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in rhell;
sNeither wilt thou suffer thine tHoly One to see ucorruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me wthe path of life:
In thy presence is xfulness of joy;
At thy right hand there are ypleasures for evermore.
A *Prayer of David.
1 Hear †the right, O Lord, aattend unto my cry,
Give ear unto my prayer, that goeth †not out of feigned lips.
2 Let my sentence come forth aafrom thy presence;
Let thine eyes behold bthe things that are equal.
3 Thou hast cproved mine heart; thou hast dvisited me ein the night;
Thou hast ftried me, and shalt find nothing;
I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips
I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5 gHold up my goings in thy hpaths,
That my footsteps †slip not.
