Numbers 21:14–18

14 That is why the Book of the Wars of the Lord says:

“… Zahab in Suphah and the ravines,

the Arnon 15 and the slopes of the ravines

that lead to the settlement of Ar

and lie along the border of Moab.”

16 From there they continued on to Beer, the well where the Lord said to Moses, “Gather the people together and I will give them water.”

17 Then Israel sang this song:

“Spring up, O well!

Sing about it,

18 about the well that the princes dug,

that the nobles of the people sank—

the nobles with scepters and staffs.”

Then they went from the wilderness to Mattanah,

14 Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord,

“Waheb in Suphah, and the valleys of the Arnon,

15 and the slope of the valleys

that extends to the seat of Ar,

and leans to the border of Moab.”

16 And from there they continued to Beer; that is the well of which the Lord said to Moses, “Gather the people together, so that I may give them water.” 17 Then Israel sang this song:

“Spring up, O well!—Sing to it!—

18 the well that the princes made,

that the nobles of the people dug,

with the scepter and with their staffs.”

And from the wilderness they went on to Mattanah,

14 For this reason The Book of the Wars of the Lord speaks of “the town of Waheb in the area of Suphah, and the ravines of the Arnon River, 15 and the ravines that extend as far as the settlement of Ar on the border of Moab.”

16 From there the Israelites traveled to Beer, which is the well where the Lord said to Moses, “Assemble the people, and I will give them water.” 17 There the Israelites sang this song:

“Spring up, O well!

Yes, sing its praises!

18 Sing of this well,

which princes dug,

which great leaders hollowed out

with their scepters and staffs.”

Then the Israelites left the wilderness and proceeded on through Mattanah,

14 Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord:

“Waheb in Suphah,

The brooks of the Arnon,

15 And the slope of the brooks

That reaches to the dwelling of Ar,

And lies on the border of Moab.”

16 From there they went to Beer, which is the well where the Lord said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.” 17 Then Israel sang this song:

“Spring up, O well!

All of you sing to it—

18 The well the leaders sank,

Dug by the nation’s nobles,

By the lawgiver, with their staves.”

And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah,

14 That is why the Book of the Wars of the Lord says:

“… and Waheb in Suphah, and the ravines,

the Arnon, 15 and the slopes of the ravines

that lead to the settlement of Ar.

These places are at the border of Moab.”

16 The Israelites went from there to Beer; a well is there where the Lord said to Moses, “Gather the people and I will give them water.”

17 Then the Israelites sang this song:

“Pour out water, well!

Sing about it.

18 Princes dug this well.

Important men made it.

With their scepters and poles, they dug it.”

The people went from the desert to Mattanah.

14 Wherefore it is said in the book of the Wars of Jehovah,

Vaheb in Suphah,

And the valleys of the Arnon,

15 And the slope of the valleys

That inclineth toward the dwelling of Ar,

And leaneth upon the border of Moab.

16 And from thence they journeyed to Beer: that is the well whereof Jehovah said unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

17 Then sang Israel this song:

Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:

18 The well, which the princes digged,

Which the nobles of the people delved,

With the sceptre, and with their staves.

And from the wilderness they journeyed to Mattanah;

14 Therefore it is said in the book of the wars of Jehovah, Vaheb in Suphah, and the brooks of Arnon; 15 And the stream of the brooks which turneth to the dwelling of Ar, And inclineth toward the border of Moab. 16 And from thence to Beer: that is the well of which Jehovah spoke to Moses, Assemble the people, and I will give them water. 17 Then Israel sang this song, Rise up, well! sing unto it: 18 Well which princes digged, which the nobles of the people hollowed out at the word of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah;

14 This is how it’s described in the Book of the Wars of the Lord: 

“… Waheb in Suphah and the valleys, 

15 Arnon and the slopes of the valleys 

that go down to the site of Ar 

and lie along the border of Moab.…” 

16 From there they went to Beer [Well]. This is the well where the Lord said to Moses, “Gather the people, and I will give them water.” 17 Then Israel sang this song about the well: 

“Make your water spring up! 

Sing to the well, 

18 the well dug by princes, 

dug out by the nobles of the people 

with their scepters and staffs.” 

From the desert they went to Mattanah,

14 Therefore it is stated in the Book of the Lord’s Wars:

Waheb in Suphah

and the ravines of the Arnon,

15 even the slopes of the ravines

that extend to the site of Ar

and lie along the border of Moab.

16 From there they went to Beer, the well the Lord told Moses about, “Gather the people so I may give them water.” 17 Then Israel sang this song:

Spring up, well—sing to it!

18 The princes dug the well;

the nobles of the people hollowed it out

with a scepter and with their staffs.

They went from the wilderness to Mattanah,

14 Wherefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord,

“Waheb in Suphah and the wadis.

The Arnon 15 and the slopes of the wadis

that extend to the seat of Ar

and lie along the border of Moab.”

16 From there they continued to Beer; that is the well of which the Lord said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.” 17 Then Israel sang this song:

“Spring up, O well!—Sing to it!—

18 the well that the leaders sank,

that the nobles of the people dug,

with the scepter, with the staff.”

From the wilderness to Mattanah,

14 Therefore thus it is said in the scroll of the Wars of Yahweh,

“Waheb in Suphah,

and the wadis of Arnon,

15 and the slope of the wadis

that spreads out to the dwelling of Ar

and lies at the boundary of Moab.”

16 From there they went to Beer, which is the water well where Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Gather the people, that I may give them water.” 17 Then Israel sang this song, “Arise, well water! Sing to it! 18 Well water that the princes dug, that the leaders of the people dug, with a staff and with their rods.” And from the desert they continued to Mattanah,

14 Here is what the Book of the Wars of the Lord says about it. It says,

“Sing about Waheb in Suphah and the valleys.

Sing about the Arnon 15 and the slopes of the valleys.

They lead to the place called Ar.

They lie along the border of Moab.”

16 From there the people of Israel continued on to Beer. That was the well where the Lord spoke to Moses. He said, “Gather the people together. I will give them water to drink.”

17 Then Israel sang a song. They said,

“Spring up, you well!

Sing about it.

18 Sing about the well the princes dug.

Sing about the well the nobles of the people dug.

All of their rulers were holding their rods and staffs.”

Then the people of Israel went from the desert to Mattanah.

14 Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord,

“Waheb in Suphah,

And the wadis of the Arnon,

15 And the slope of the wadis

That extends to the site of Ar,

And leans to the border of Moab.”

16 From there they continued to Beer, that is the well where the Lord said to Moses, “Assemble the people, that I may give them water.”

17 Then Israel sang this song:

“Spring up, O well! Sing to it!

18 “The well, which the leaders sank,

Which the nobles of the people dug,

With the scepter and with their staffs.”

And from the wilderness they continued to Mattanah,
