Micah 6:1–7:10
aHear ye now what the Lord saith;
Arise, contend thou ||before the mountains,
And let the hills hear thy voice.
2 abHear ye, O mountains, cthe Lord’s controversy,
And ye strong foundations of the earth:
For cthe Lord hath a controversy with his people,
And he will plead with Israel.
3 O my people, dwhat have I done unto thee?
And ewherein have I wearied thee?
Testify against me.
4 For fI brought thee up out of the land of Egypt,
And ghredeemed thee fhout of the house of servants;
And I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and iMiriam.
5 O my people, remember now kwhat Balak king of Moab consulted,
And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him
That ye may know nthe righteousness of the Lord.
6 oWherewith shall I pcome before the Lord,
And qbow myself before the rhigh God?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
With calves †of a year old?
7 sWill the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
Or with ten thousands of trivers of oil?
uShall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
The fruit of my †body for the sin of my soul?
8 sHe hath shewed thee, vO man, what is good;
And wwhat doth the Lord require of thee,
But xto do yjustly, and to love ymercy,
And to †walk humbly awith thy God?
9 The Lord’s voice crieth unto the city,
And ||the man of bwisdom shall see cthy name:
Hear ye dthe rod, and who ehath appointed it.
10 ||Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked,
And the †hscant measure that is iabominable?
11 ||Shall I count them pure with the wicked kbalances,
And with lthe bag of kdeceitful weights?
12 For the rich men thereof mare full of violence,
And the inhabitants thereof nhave spoken lies,
And otheir tongue is pdeceitful in their mouth.
13 Therefore also will I qmake thee sick in smiting thee,
In making thee desolate because of thy sins.
14 rThou shalt eat, but not be satisfied;
And thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee;
And thou shalt stake hold, tbut shalt not deliver;
And tthat which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
15 uThou shalt vsow, but thou shalt not reap;
uThou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not wanoint thee with oil;
uxAnd ysweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.
16 For ||the statutes of zOmri are kept,
And all the works of the house of aAhab,
And ye walk in their counsels;
That I should make thee ba ||desolation,
And the inhabitants thereof can hissing:
Therefore ye shall bear dthe reproach of my people.
7 aWoe is me! for I am as †when they have gathered cthe summer fruits,
As dthe grapegleanings of the vintage:
There is no ecluster to eat:
My soul desired fthe firstripe fruit.
2 gThe ||hgood man is perished out of the earth:
And ithere is none upright among men:
They all jlie in wait for blood;
kThey hunt levery man his brother mwith a net.
3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly,
nThe prince asketh, and nothe judge asketh for a reward;
And the great man, he uttereth †his mischievous desire:
So they qwrap it up.
4 The best of them is as ra brier:
The most upright is sharper than rsa thorn hedge:
The day of thy twatchmen and uthy visitation cometh;
Now shall be their vperplexity.
5 wTrust ye not in a friend,
Put ye not confidence in a xguide:
Keep ythe doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.
6 For zabthe son cdishonoureth the father,
zThe daughter riseth up against her mother,
zThe daughter in law against her mother in law;
bdA man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
7 Therefore I will elook unto the Lord;
I will fwait for the God of my salvation:
gMy God will hear me.
8 hiRejoice not against me, O mine renemy:
lWhen I sit in darkness, mthe Lord shall be a light unto me.
9 nI will bear the indignation of the Lord, obecause I have sinned against him,
Until he pplead my cause, and execute judgment for me:
qHe will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
10 ||Then rshe that is mine enemy shall see it, and sshame shall cover her
Which said unto me, tWhere is the Lord thy God?
uMine eyes shall behold her:
