Matthew 22:29–32 — The New International Version (NIV)

29 Jesus replied, You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 31 But about the resurrection of the deadhave you not read what God said to you, 32 I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — English Standard Version (ESV)

29 But Jesus answered them, You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — New Living Translation (NLT)

29 Jesus replied, Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God. 30 For when the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven.

31 But now, as to whether there will be a resurrection of the deadhaven’t you ever read about this in the Scriptures? Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, God said, 32 I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ So he is the God of the living, not the dead.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — New Century Version (NCV)

29 Jesus answered, “You don’t understand, because you don’t know what the Scriptures say, and you don’t know about the power of God. 30 When people rise from the dead, they will not marry, nor will they be given to someone to marry. They will be like the angels in heaven. 31 Surely you have read what God said to you about rising from the dead. 32 God said, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ God is the God of the living, not the dead.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — American Standard Version (ASV)

29 But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven. 31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Matthew 22:29–32 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not God of the dead, but of the living.

Matthew 22:29–32 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

29 Jesus answered, “You’re mistaken because you don’t know the Scriptures or God’s power. 30 When people come back to life, they don’t marry. Rather, they are like the angels in heaven. 31 Haven’t you read what God told you about the dead coming back to life? He said, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ He’s not the God of the dead but of the living.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

29 Jesus answered them, You are deceived, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like angels in heaven. 31 Now concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read what was spoken to you by God: 32 I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living!”

Matthew 22:29–32 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

29 Jesus replied, “You are mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures. And you do not know the power of God. 30 When the dead rise, they won’t get married. And their parents won’t give them to be married. They will be like the angels in heaven.

31 “What about the dead rising? Haven’t you read what God said to you? 32 He said, ‘I am the God of Abraham. I am the God of Isaac. And I am the God of Jacob.’ He is not the God of the dead. He is the God of the living.”

Matthew 22:29–32 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
