John 1:25–29

25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why zbaptizest thou then, if thou be not that aChrist, nor Elias, neither that prophet? 26 John answered them, saying, bI baptize with water: cbut there standeth one damong you, whom ye know not; 27 He it is, who ecoming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s flatchet I am not worthy to unloose. 28 These things were done gin Bethabara hbeyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold ithe Lamb of God, which j||taketh away the sin of the world.

John 1:25–29 — The New International Version (NIV)

25 questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

26 “I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”

28 This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
