Isaiah 66:16–17

16 For with fire and with his sword

the Lord will execute judgment on all people,

and many will be those slain by the Lord.

17 “Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one who is among those who eat the flesh of pigs, rats and other unclean things—they will meet their end together with the one they follow,” declares the Lord.

16 For by fire will the Lord enter into judgment,

and by his sword, with all flesh;

and those slain by the Lord shall be many.

17 “Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following one in the midst, eating pig’s flesh and the abomination and mice, shall come to an end together, declares the Lord.

16 The Lord will punish the world by fire

and by his sword.

He will judge the earth,

and many will be killed by him.

17 “Those who ‘consecrate’ and ‘purify’ themselves in a sacred garden with its idol in the center—feasting on pork and rats and other detestable meats—will come to a terrible end,” says the Lord.

16 For by fire and by His sword

The Lord will judge all flesh;

And the slain of the Lord shall be many.

17 “Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves,

To go to the gardens

After an idol in the midst,

Eating swine’s flesh and the abomination and the mouse,

Shall be consumed together,” says the Lord.

16 The Lord will judge the people with fire,

and he will destroy many people with his sword;

he will kill many people.

17 “These people make themselves holy and pure to go to worship their gods in their gardens. Following each other into their special gardens, they eat the meat of pigs and rats and other hateful things. But they will all be destroyed together,” says the Lord.

16 For by fire will Jehovah execute judgment, and by his sword, upon all flesh; and the slain of Jehovah shall be many. 17 They that sanctify themselves and purify themselves to go unto the gardens, behind one in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, they shall come to an end together, saith Jehovah.

16 For by fire and by his sword will Jehovah enter into judgment with all flesh: and the slain of Jehovah shall be many. 17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one in the midst; that eat swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall perish together, saith Jehovah.

16 The Lord will judge with fire, 

and he will judge all people with his sword. 

Many people will be struck dead by the Lord. 

17 People make themselves holy 

and prepare themselves for their garden rituals. 

They go into the garden 

and devour pork, disgusting things, and mice. 

“They will come to an end at the same time,” 

declares the Lord. 

16 For the Lord will execute judgment

on all flesh with His fiery sword,

and many will be slain by the Lord.

17 “Those who dedicate and purify themselves to enter the groves following their leader, eating meat from pigs, vermin, and rats, will perish together.”

This is the Lord’s declaration.

16 For by fire will the Lord execute judgment,

and by his sword on all flesh;

and those slain by the Lord shall be many.

17 Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go into the gardens, following the one in the center, eating the flesh of pigs, vermin, and rodents, shall come to an end together, says the Lord,

16 For Yahweh enters into judgment on all flesh with fire and his sword,

and those slain by Yahweh shall be many.

17 Those who sanctify themselves

and those who cleanse themselves to go into the gardens after the one in the middle,

eating the flesh of swine

and detestable things and rodents together

shall come to an end!” declares Yahweh.

16 The Lord will bring everyone into court.

He will use fire and his sword to punish those he finds guilty.

He will put many people to death.

17 “Some people set themselves apart and make themselves pure. They do it so they can go into the gardens to worship other gods. They do what the worship leader tells them to do. They eat the meat of pigs and rats. They also eat other things I hate. All of those people will come to a horrible end,” announces the Lord.

16 For the Lord will execute judgment by fire

And by His sword on all flesh,

And those slain by the Lord will be many.

17 “Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go to the gardens,

Following one in the center,

Who eat swine’s flesh, detestable things and mice,

Will come to an end altogether,” declares the Lord.
