Isaiah 54:9–13

9 “To me this is like the days of Noah,

when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.

So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,

never to rebuke you again.

10 Though the mountains be shaken

and the hills be removed,

yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken

nor my covenant of peace be removed,”

says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

11 “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,

I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise,

your foundations with lapis lazuli.

12 I will make your battlements of rubies,

your gates of sparkling jewels,

and all your walls of precious stones.

13 All your children will be taught by the Lord,

and great will be their peace.

9 “This is like the days of Noah to me:

as I swore that the waters of Noah

should no more go over the earth,

so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you,

and will not rebuke you.

10 For the mountains may depart

and the hills be removed,

but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,

and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,”

says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

11 “O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted,

behold, I will set your stones in antimony,

and lay your foundations with sapphires.

12 I will make your pinnacles of agate,

your gates of carbuncles,

and all your wall of precious stones.

13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord,

and great shall be the peace of your children.

9 “Just as I swore in the time of Noah

that I would never again let a flood cover the earth,

so now I swear

that I will never again be angry and punish you.

10 For the mountains may move

and the hills disappear,

but even then my faithful love for you will remain.

My covenant of blessing will never be broken,”

says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

11 “O storm-battered city,

troubled and desolate!

I will rebuild you with precious jewels

and make your foundations from lapis lazuli.

12 I will make your towers of sparkling rubies,

your gates of shining gems,

and your walls of precious stones.

13 I will teach all your children,

and they will enjoy great peace.

9 “For this is like the waters of Noah to Me;

For as I have sworn

That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth,

So have I sworn

That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.

10 For the mountains shall depart

And the hills be removed,

But My kindness shall not depart from you,

Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”

Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

11 “O you afflicted one,

Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,

Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems,

And lay your foundations with sapphires.

12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies,

Your gates of crystal,

And all your walls of precious stones.

13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord,

And great shall be the peace of your children.

9 The Lord says, “This day is like the time of Noah to me.

I promised then that I would never flood the world again.

In the same way, I promise I will not be angry with you

or punish you again.

10 The mountains may disappear,

and the hills may come to an end,

but my love will never disappear;

my promise of peace will not come to an end,”

says the Lord who shows mercy to you.

11 “You poor city. Storms have hurt you,

and you have not been comforted.

But I will rebuild you with turquoise stones,

and I will build your foundations with sapphires.

12 I will use rubies to build your walls

and shining jewels for the gates

and precious jewels for all your outer walls.

13 All your children will be taught by the Lord,

and they will have much peace.

9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I will not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. 10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my lovingkindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, saith Jehovah that hath mercy on thee. 11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set thy stones in fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. 12 And I will make thy pinnacles of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy border of precious stones. 13 And all thy children shall be taught of Jehovah; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me, since I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth: so have I sworn that I will no more be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. 10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my loving-kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, saith Jehovah, that hath mercy on thee.

11 Thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, not comforted! Behold, I will set thy stones in antimony, and lay thy foundations with sapphires; 12 and I will make thy battlements of rubies, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of precious stones. 13 And all thy children shall be taught of Jehovah, and great shall be the peace of thy children.

9 “To me this is like Noah’s floodwaters, when I swore an oath 

that Noah’s floodwaters would never cover the earth again. 

So now I swear an oath not to be angry with you or punish you. 

10 The mountains may move, and the hills may shake, 

but my kindness will never depart from you. 

My promiseof peace will never change,” 

says the Lord, who has compassion on you. 

11 “You suffering, comfortless, storm-ravaged city! 

I will rebuild your city with precious stones. 

I will reset your foundations with sapphires. 

12 I will rebuild your towers with rubies, 

your gates with sparkling stones, 

and all your walls with precious stones.” 

13 All your children will be taught by the Lord, 

and your children will have unlimited peace. 

9 “For this is like the days of Noah to Me:

when I swore that the waters of Noah

would never flood the earth again,

so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you

or rebuke you.

10 Though the mountains move

and the hills shake,

My love will not be removed from you

and My covenant of peace will not be shaken,”

says your compassionate Lord.

11 “Poor Jerusalem, storm-tossed, and not comforted,

I will set your stones in black mortar,

and lay your foundations in sapphires.

12 I will make your fortifications out of rubies,

your gates out of sparkling stones,

and all your walls out of precious stones.

13 Then all your children will be taught by the Lord,

their prosperity will be great,

9 This is like the days of Noah to me:

Just as I swore that the waters of Noah

would never again go over the earth,

so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you

and will not rebuke you.

10 For the mountains may depart

and the hills be removed,

but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,

and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,

says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

11 O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted,

I am about to set your stones in antimony

and lay your foundations with sapphires.

12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies,

your gates of jewels,

and all your wall of precious stones.

13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord,

and great shall be the prosperity of your children.

9 “For this is like the waters of Noah to me,

when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again pass over the earth,

so I swore that I would not be angry at you and rebuke you.

10 For the mountains may depart,

and the hills may sway,

but my faithfulness shall not depart from you,

and my covenant of peace shall not sway,”

says Yahweh, who has compassion on you,

11 “O afflicted one, driven away, who is not consoled.

Look! I am about to set your stones in hard mortar,

and I will lay your foundation with sapphires.

12 And I will make your battlements of ruby,

and your gates of stones of beryl,

and all your wall of precious stones.

13 And all your children shall be pupils of Yahweh,

and the peace of your children shall be great.

9 “During Noah’s time I took an oath and made a promise.

I said I would never cover the earth with water again.

In the same way, I have promised not to be angry with you.

I will never punish you again.

10 The mountains might shake.

The hills might be removed.

But my faithful love for you will never be shaken.

And my covenant that promises peace to you will never be broken,”

says the Lord. He shows you his loving concern.

11 “Suffering city, you have been beaten by storms.

You have not been comforted.

I will rebuild you with turquoise stones.

I will rebuild your foundations with sapphires.

12 I will line the top of your city wall with rubies.

I will make your gates out of gleaming jewels.

And I will make all of your walls out of precious stones.

13 I will teach all of your children.

And they will enjoy great peace.

9 “For this is like the days of Noah to Me,

When I swore that the waters of Noah

Would not flood the earth again;

So I have sworn that I will not be angry with you

Nor will I rebuke you.

10 “For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,

But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you,

And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,”

Says the Lord who has compassion on you.

11 “O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted,

Behold, I will set your stones in antimony,

And your foundations I will lay in sapphires.

12 “Moreover, I will make your battlements of rubies,

And your gates of crystal,

And your entire wall of precious stones.

13 “All your sons will be taught of the Lord;

And the well-being of your sons will be great.
