Isaiah 25:5–8

5 and like the heat of the desert.

You silence the uproar of foreigners;

as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,

so the song of the ruthless is stilled.

6 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare

a feast of rich food for all peoples,

a banquet of aged wine—

the best of meats and the finest of wines.

7 On this mountain he will destroy

the shroud that enfolds all peoples,

the sheet that covers all nations;

8 he will swallow up death forever.

The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears

from all faces;

he will remove his people’s disgrace

from all the earth.

The Lord has spoken.

5 like heat in a dry place.

You subdue the noise of the foreigners;

as heat by the shade of a cloud,

so the song of the ruthless is put down.

6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples

a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,

of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.

7 And he will swallow up on this mountain

the covering that is cast over all peoples,

the veil that is spread over all nations.

8 He will swallow up death forever;

and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,

and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,

for the Lord has spoken.

5 or like the relentless heat of the desert.

But you silence the roar of foreign nations.

As the shade of a cloud cools relentless heat,

so the boastful songs of ruthless people are stilled.

6 In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies

will spread a wonderful feast

for all the people of the world.

It will be a delicious banquet

with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat.

7 There he will remove the cloud of gloom,

the shadow of death that hangs over the earth.

8 He will swallow up death forever!

The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all tears.

He will remove forever all insults and mockery

against his land and people.

The Lord has spoken!

5 You will reduce the noise of aliens,

As heat in a dry place;

As heat in the shadow of a cloud,

The song of the terrible ones will be diminished.

6 And in this mountain

The Lord of hosts will make for all people

A feast of choice pieces,

A feast of wines on the lees,

Of fat things full of marrow,

Of well-refined wines on the lees.

7 And He will destroy on this mountain

The surface of the covering cast over all people,

And the veil that is spread over all nations.

8 He will swallow up death forever,

And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces;

The rebuke of His people

He will take away from all the earth;

For the Lord has spoken.

5 like the heat in the desert.

But you, God, stop their violent attack.

As a cloud cools a hot day,

you silence the songs of those who have no mercy.

6 The Lord All-Powerful will prepare a feast

on this mountain for all people.

It will be a feast with all the best food and wine,

the finest meat and wine.

7 On this mountain God will destroy

the veil that covers all nations,

the veil that stretches over all peoples;

8 he will destroy death forever.

The Lord God will wipe away every tear from every face.

He will take away the shame of his people from the earth.

The Lord has spoken.

5 As the heat in a dry place wilt thou bring down the noise of strangers; as the heat by the shade of a cloud, the song of the terrible ones shall be brought low. 6 And in this mountain will Jehovah of hosts make unto all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering that covereth all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations. 8 He hath swallowed up death for ever; and the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Jehovah hath spoken it.

5 Thou hast subdued the tumult of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; as the heat, by the shadow of a cloud, so the song of the terrible ones is brought low.

6 And in this mountain will Jehovah of hosts make unto all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the veil which veileth all the peoples, and the covering that is spread over all the nations. 8 He will swallow up death in victory. And the Lord Jehovah will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth: for Jehovah hath spoken.

You calm the uproar of foreigners. 

The song of tyrants is silenced 

like heat that is ⸤reduced⸥ by the shadow of a cloud. 

6 On this mountain the Lord of Armies will prepare for all people 

a feast with the best foods, 

a banquet with aged wines, 

with the best foods and the finest wines. 

7 On this mountain he will remove 

the veil of grief covering all people 

and the mask covering all nations. 

8 He will swallow up death forever. 

The Almighty Lord will wipe away tears from every face, 

and he will remove the disgrace of his people from the whole earth. 

The Lord has spoken. 

5 like heat in a dry land,

You subdue the uproar of barbarians.

As the shade of a cloud cools the heat of the day,

so He silences the song of the violent.

6 The Lord of Hosts will prepare a feast

for all the peoples on this mountain —

a feast of aged wine, choice meat, finely aged wine.

7 On this mountain

He will destroy the burial shroud,

the shroud over all the peoples,

the sheet covering all the nations;

8 He will destroy death forever.

The Lord God will wipe away the tears

from every face

and remove His people’s disgrace

from the whole earth,

for the Lord has spoken.

5 the noise of foreigners like heat in a dry place,

you subdued the heat with the shade of clouds;

the song of the ruthless was stilled.

6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples

a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines,

of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.

7 And he will destroy on this mountain

the shroud that is cast over all peoples,

the covering that is spread over all nations;

8 he will swallow up death forever.

Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces,

and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth,

for the Lord has spoken.

5 the noise of foreigners like heat in a dry land.

6 And on this mountain Yahweh of hosts will make for all peoples a rich feast,

a feast of aged wines, fat filled with marrow, filtered aged wine.

7 And on this mountain he will destroy the face of the shroud,

the shroud over all peoples,

and the woven covering over all nations.

8 He will destroy death forever,

and the Lord Yahweh will wipe off the tears from all faces,

and he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth,

for Yahweh has spoken.

5 They are like the heat of the desert.

You stopped the noisy shouts of our enemies.

You kept them from winning the battle over us and singing about it.

You are like the shadow of a cloud that cools the earth.

6 On Mount Zion the Lord who rules over all will prepare

a feast for all of the nations.

The best and richest foods

and the finest aged wines will be served.

7 On that mountain the Lord will destroy

the veil of sadness that covers all of the nations.

He will destroy the gloom that is spread over everyone.

8 He will swallow up death forever.

The Lord and King will wipe away the tears

from everyone’s face.

He will remove the shame of his people

from the whole earth.

The Lord has spoken.

5 Like heat in drought, You subdue the uproar of aliens;

Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is silenced.

6 The Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain;

A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow,

And refined, aged wine.

7 And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples,

Even the veil which is stretched over all nations.

8 He will swallow up death for all time,

And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces,

And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth;

For the Lord has spoken.
