Isaiah 24:12–14 — New International Version (2011) (NIV)
12 The city is left in ruins,
its gate is battered to pieces.
13 So will it be on the earth
and among the nations,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
or as when gleanings are left after the grape harvest.
14 They raise their voices, they shout for joy;
from the west they acclaim the Lord’s majesty.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — English Standard Version (ESV)
12 Desolation is left in the city;
the gates are battered into ruins.
13 For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth
among the nations,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is done.
14 They lift up their voices, they sing for joy;
over the majesty of the Lord they shout from the west.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — New Living Translation (NLT)
12 The city is left in ruins,
its gates battered down.
13 Throughout the earth the story is the same—
only a remnant is left,
like the stray olives left on the tree
or the few grapes left on the vine after harvest.
14 But all who are left shout and sing for joy.
Those in the west praise the Lord’s majesty.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
12 In the city desolation is left,
And the gate is stricken with destruction.
13 When it shall be thus in the midst of the land among the people,
It shall be like the shaking of an olive tree,
Like the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done.
14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing;
For the majesty of the Lord
They shall cry aloud from the sea.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — New Century Version (NCV)
12 The city will be left in ruins,
and its gates will be smashed to pieces.
13 This is what will happen all over the earth
and to all the nations.
The earth will be like an olive tree after the harvest
or like the few grapes left on a vine after harvest.
14 The people shout for joy.
From the west they praise the greatness of the Lord.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — American Standard Version (ASV)
12 In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. 13 For thus shall it be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive-tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.
14 These shall lift up their voice, they shall shout; for the majesty of Jehovah they cry aloud from the sea.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
12 desolation remaineth in the city, and the gate is smitten, —a ruin.
13 For so will it be in the midst of the land among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive-tree, as the grape-gleanings when the vintage is done. 14 These shall lift up their voice, they shall shout for the majesty of Jehovah, they shall cry aloud from the sea.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
12 The city is left in ruins.
Its gate is battered to pieces.
13 That is the way it will be on earth among the nations.
They will be like an olive tree which has been shaken
or like what’s left after the grape harvest.
14 They raise their voices.
They shout for joy.
From the sea they sing joyfully about the Lord’s majesty.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
12 Only desolation remains in the city;
its gate has collapsed in ruins.
13 For this is how it will be on earth
among the nations:
like a harvested olive tree,
like a gleaning after a grape harvest.
14 They raise their voices, they sing out;
they proclaim in the west
the majesty of the Lord.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — New Revised Standard Version: Updated Edition (NRSVue)
12 Desolation is left in the city;
the gates are battered into ruins.
13 For thus it shall be on the earth
and among the nations,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is ended.
14 They lift up their voices; they sing for joy;
they shout from the west over the majesty of the Lord.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
12 Desolation is left in the city;
the gate is crushed into a state of ruin.
13 For it shall be like this in the midst of the earth,
among the nations,
like the beating of an olive tree,
like gleanings when a grape harvest is at an end.
14 They lift up their voices; they sing for joy;
they shout out from the west over the majesty of Yahweh.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
12 All of the buildings will be knocked down.
Every city gate will be smashed to pieces.
13 That’s how it will be on the earth.
And that’s how it will be among the nations.
It will be as when workers knock all but a few olives off the trees.
It will be like a vine that has only a few grapes left after the harvest.
14 Those who are left alive will shout with joy.
People from the west will praise the Lord because he is the King.
Isaiah 24:12–14 — New American Standard Bible (1995) (NASB95)
12 Desolation is left in the city
And the gate is battered to ruins.
13 For thus it will be in the midst of the earth among the peoples,
As the shaking of an olive tree,
As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.
14 They raise their voices, they shout for joy;
They cry out from the west concerning the majesty of the Lord.
